 TIFERS – TIST Foundation for Economically Backward Rural Students (TIFERS) is a wing of TIST, started in the year 2005 for the welfare of economically backward and academically brilliant rural students for pursuing higher education. TIFERS makes special efforts to remove disparities and equalize educational opportunities for all students. Another striking feature of this scheme is the Book Bank, providing deserving students with text books free of cost. This section includes 4619 books. Academic progress of every beneficiary is strictly monitored. Scholarship offered by TIFERS falls under the following categories:

Waving of Full Tuition fees and free hostel accommodation.

  1. Students residing in rural areas with low annual income
  2. Having good academic records, but unable to pursue higher studies.
  3. Written test and interview by the Institute.

From the academic year 2017-18 onwards TIFERS is offered under TIST Income – cum – Merit

Meritorious students with family income less than Rs. 1,00,000/- per annum.  Tuition fee + Special fee = Rs. 10,000/- per annum
Meritorious students with family income between Rs. 1,00,000/- and Rs. 2,00,000/- per annum.  Tuition fee + Special fee = Rs. 15,000/- per annum
Meritorious students with family income between Rs. 2,00,000/- and Rs. 3,50,000/-per annum.  Tuition fee + Special fee = Rs. 20,000/-per annum.
 Meritorious students with family income between Rs. 3,50,000/- and Rs. 5,00,000/- per annum.  Tuition fee + Special fee = Rs. 25,000/- per annum.

 Entrance rank between 5001 & 10000  Tuition fee + Special fee = Rs. 10,000/- per annum.
 Entrance rank between 10001 &  15000  Tuition fee + Special fee = Rs. 15,000/- per annum.
 Entrance rank between 15001 & 20000  Tuition fee + Special fee = Rs. 25,000/- per annum.

b)  Subsidized fee for XII Standard toppers

 PUTHUYUGAM SCHOLARSHIP  District Collector’s scholarship for Economically Backward meritorious students
Eligible candidates interested in TIST Excellence Scholarship and Arts & Sports Scholarship are advised to submit a request on or before the specified date which will be announced later.
Eligible candidates interested in TIST Income-cum-merit Scholarship (TIFERS) should apply separately. Details of application will be announced later.
