2-Day Data Engineering Workshop by Toc H Institute of Science & Technology

On February 29, 2024, a workshop titled “Introduction to Data Engineering” was successfully conducted, in collaboration with Freston Analytics, Private Limited, and ProSeed. The session aimed to provide attendees with insights into the intricate field of data engineering. Led by Ms. Shamna Parakkal, a seasoned Data Engineer at Freston Analytics, and Mr. Abdul Haay, the workshop offered valuable knowledge and practical guidance on navigating the realm of data engineering. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the fundamental principles, tools, and techniques essential for effective data management and analysis. The workshop fostered an interactive environment, allowing for meaningful discussions and learning exchanges. Beyond Syntax: Navigate Your Coding Journey with Industry Experts

Department of Computer Science & Engineering, in association with ProSEED and powered by Freston Analytics Pvt. Ltd., reflects on the impactful session, “Beyond Syntax: Navigate Your Coding Journey with Industry Experts,” conducted on February 6th, 2024.

Under the guidance of Mr. Nikhil C R, participants transcended traditional coding boundaries, delving into advanced academic projects and industry insights. The session provided a unique opportunity for attendees to refine their coding skills and gain a deeper understanding of real-world applications.

Post-session reflections highlight a significant leap in participants’ coding proficiency and industry readiness. This collaborative effort underscores our commitment to providing holistic education and fostering industry connections for our students.

LLM Explorations Workshop: Unveiling the Potential of Large Language Models

In a collaborative effort between TinkerHub, Toc H, and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, an enthralling journey unfolded at the LLM Explorations Workshop on January 31, 2024, from 1:20 PM to 4:00 PM. The workshop, themed around Project-Based Learning and Exploring LLM Technology, provided attendees with a deep dive into the world of Large Language Models. Participants were engaged in practical activities and discussions, fostering innovation and understanding of LLM technology. This workshop exemplified the commitment to promoting cutting-edge learning experiences and collaborative exploration in the field of computer science.

Mastering Data Management

Unlocking Data Proficiency: A transformative workshop on Mastering Data Management, covering DBMS and DSA, took place on November 4th, 2023. Conducted by Mr. Baazil P Thampy and Ms. Philo Sumi, Assistant Professors from the CSE Department at Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, the session offered a deep dive into these vital concepts. Participants gained valuable insights and hands-on skills, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of data management.

Global Career and Higher Education Opportunities

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering conducted a session on “Global Career and Higher Education Opportunities” in collaboration with EasyLink Academy on October 27, 2023. The insightful session was delivered by Mr. Sony Akkara, Executive Career Coach & Director of EasyLink. Participants gained valuable insights into international career prospects and higher education avenues, enhancing their understanding of global opportunities.

Workshop on LaTeX

A LaTeX Workshop conducted on October 4th, 2023, by Mr. Mahesh R, Lab Instructor of the CSE department, was a triumph. In this hands-on session, S7 students delved into the intricacies of LaTeX for effective document preparation. Mr. Mahesh R’s expertise and guidance were invaluable, providing an enriching learning experience. Kudos to the participants for their active engagement, making this workshop a remarkable success in advancing their technical skills

Python Programming Workshop

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, in collaboration with CSI-SB, organized a dynamic Python Programming workshop for S7 CSE students on 14th September 2023 . Led by experienced IT specialists, Ms. Muhsina Pareeth and Ms. Archana K from Networkz Systems, Kochi, the hands-on session provided an exciting opportunity to delve into the intricacies of Python programming. Students engaged in interactive learning, unraveling the versatility of this coding language and its myriad applications in projects and various domains. The workshop not only enhanced technical skills but also fostered a deeper understanding of Python’s role in advancing innovative solutions

CODE CAMP:LET’S TALK PYTHON

Breaking barriers in coding proficiency! Our collaborative effort with CSI-SB brought forth an invigorating Python session coordinated by IEEE CS SBC Toc H. The session, skilfully guided by Mr. Jacob Jose, Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department, fostered interactive learning. Participants delved into Python intricacies, expanding their coding expertise. A successful convergence of expertise and enthusiasm, paving the way for enhanced programming skills. Kudos to all contributors in making this session a knowledge-filled experience 

Session on Technology for Entrepreneurs

Toc H IIC, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, orchestrated a insightful session on ‘Technology for Entrepreneurs’ on August 21, 2023, coinciding with World Entrepreneur’s Day. Renowned alumnus, Mr. Jerin A Mathews, Co-Founder & CTO of Produx AI, shared his profound entrepreneurial journey. As a distinguished figure in technology, Jerin guided participants in cultivating an entrepreneurial mind-set, transforming visionary concepts into reality. The Department of CSE at Toc H, in collaboration with FACE (Federal Academy for Cyber Education), a recognized training center of C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing), and CERTNEXUS, organized a comprehensive 50-hour internship program on Cyber and Information Security. This initiative aimed to address the increasing significance of cybersecurity in our digital society.

The internship program was designed to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge to effectively handle cybersecurity threats and respond to security incidents. The sessions were conducted by Mr. Ragesh Ramachandran, a highly experienced Senior Cyber Security Trainer with a diverse range of certifications and expertise, including ECSA, CEH V12, CertNexus, Digital Forensics, HTB, and THM.

The program included hands-on training sessions that covered various aspects of cybersecurity, allowing participants to gain practical experience in identifying, preventing, and mitigating potential threats. Furthermore, the internship program focused on comprehensive training in responding to security incidents, ensuring that participants were well-prepared to handle real-world scenarios.

To enhance the practical understanding of the field, the program provided students with the opportunity to engage in live projects as part of their training. This practical application allowed them to further develop their skills and knowledge in cybersecurity.Top of Form

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

Department of CSE, in association with Logixspace Technologies, successfully organized a 10-day Internship Program in ‘Full Stack Development (MERN)’
The training program imparted hands-on practice in mastering the art of Full Stack Development. Throughout the 10-day duration, attendees actively engaged in coding exercises and project work, applying the concepts and techniques taught by the industry expert. They gained practical experience in developing applications using the MERN stack (MongoDB — document database, Express(.js) — Node.js web framework, React(.js) — a client-side JavaScript framework, and Node(.js) — the premier JavaScript web server). The workshop not only provided a comprehensive understanding of web development, but also instilled a sense of confidence in the participants.

SQUAD SKILLS – Mastering Idea Pitching and Entrepreneurship Skills

A joint internship program was organized for first-year students by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Toc H IIC, in partnership with Technolodge, (Kerala’s first Rural IT park), Piravom. It was conducted by goose Berry Media, an IT startup located in Technolodge, in partnership with Neuralux Foundation. The program equipped the attendees with invaluable hands-on technical experience and horned their skills in teamwork, communication, design, and marketing; the fundamental skills necessary to thrive in the fast-paced tech industry.

FDP ON INTRODUCTION TO DATA ENGINEERING USING ELASTIC STACK

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering, in collaboration with Freston Analytics Pvt Ltd, organized a two-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Introduction to Data Engineering using Elastic Stack.” The FDP aimed to provide educators with comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in data engineering using the Elastic Stack technology. Participants had the opportunity to learn about various concepts, tools, and techniques involved in data engineering, including data ingestion, processing, storage, and analysis using Elastic Stack. The FDP fostered a deeper understanding of data engineering principles and equipped the faculty members with the necessary skills to incorporate these concepts into their teaching curriculum. The collaboration between the department and Freston Analytics Pvt Ltd proved to be a fruitful endeavor, empowering participants with valuable skills and knowledge in the field of data engineering.

Session on ‘”Deploying Machine Learning Models on an Edge Device”

Department of CSE, along with CSI & IEEE student branches of Toc H, in association with IIT Palakkad Technology IHub Foundation organised a training program on “Deploying Machine Learning Models on an Edge Device” on 24th March 2023.

The session started with the basic introduction to the underlying technologies, followed by introduction to Nvidia Jetson Nano development kit. The hands-on session gave insight on the procedures to deploy an optimised machine learning model on jetson nano. Participants carried out micro projects on object detection by integrating jetson nano with camera. The session served to be extremely useful to equip our students with state of the art skillset to build, train, and deploy effective ML models at EDGE for real-time applications. 39 students along with faculty members participated in the event.

Flutter Forward by GDSC

A training workshop series called Flutter Forward, which focused on app building using Flutter, was conducted by the Google Developer Students Club of the Toc H Institute of Science and Technology in association with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The event was held from 16 March 2023 to 17 March 2023. On the first day, Roshan Mathews taught the fundamentals of object-oriented programming to first-year students, while Akhil PS revised the concepts for students in other years. The basics of Flutter were covered, and two projects were built on the second day by Akhil P. S.

Session on ‘My Story- Motivational Session by Successful Innovator’

TIST Institution Innovation Council (IIC) in association with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) organized an Online Session “My Story- Motivational Session by Successful Innovator” by Yadev Jayachandran, Full stack developer,UI/UX & Graphics designer, Maker Krews UAE  on 15th October 2022.. He elaborated the newly added characteristics in the definition of entrepreneurship and  also motivated the students to start their own venture and how they can enhance their entrepreneurial skills.

Alumni Talk Series-Cracking Campus Placements

Department of Computer Science & Engineering in association with CSI TIST Student Branch organized a webinar on “Cracking Campus Placements” for students on 2nd October 2022 at 7.30 pm. The session was handled by Mr. Rithin Varghese(2017-’21 Batch) and Mr. Thushar Kiran S D(2018-’22 Batch )Associate software Engineer H&R Block, Alumni TIST-CSE. Session on Incubation Opportunities for Early Stage Start-Ups

TIST Institution Innovation Council (IIC) in association with Department of Computer Science & Engineering and TIST Innovations and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) organized a session on “Incubation Opportunities for Early Stage Start-Ups” by Mr. Jibin Jose, VP Ecosystem Relations at ADIF and CEO & Founder,Flipmotion on 29th August 2022 at 11.30 am. The session served beneficial for the participants to support startups in developing their ideas and the earliest stages of their businesses — providing education, mentoring, help with design and tech issues, physical workspace. The session focused on how to take an idea and build it into a legitimate business. This session explores self, the limits of our thinking, the obstacles that hamper our ability to expand our thinking capacity and building the relationships needed for startup success.
