TIST TRADITION:

TIST has defined   four reasons for its existence: value based education to serve the weaker sections of society, spark innovation among the young, nurture job creators rather than job seekers and make learning an enjoyable process.

How do we achieve the above objectives?

We at TIST have adopted creative Teaching -Learning process incorporating revised Bloom's Taxonomy as our pedagogy model.

Information is changing the economics of knowledge, and knowledge in Science and Technology can breed entrepreneurs to nourish industry and agriculture. This will be a cyclic phenomenon, and the growth machine should be driven by this energy. Money, no doubt, is a very significant resource, but the society should be aware that money is not an end product, but a symbolic mathematical representation of all value-additions, contributed by Science and Technology, synthesized by the innovative inputs of people. Education should not adopt one- size- fits- policy and should not be examination-oriented, but application based. Teachers should be trained to nurture the abilities of individual students instead of presenting a standard fit- for- all. Learning will be then self-motivated and enjoyable. We create an ambience supported by modern smart class rooms, where virtual visions are created to enable students to experience the outcome of the learning process. Our classrooms for first year have less than 50 students, to make the learning process more student-centered. Quality of delivery is improved by limiting classroom strength to 35 for handling difficult concepts, for higher semesters.

TIST  motivates students in research and has a separate research entity under 'JC Bose Centre for Research and Advanced Studies' - a dream project blessed by Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, former President of India - to act as an incubator for emerging research fields in Alternate Energy, Nano Sciences, Environmental Sciences and Rural Technologies.

Apart from MBA, which is a unique fully residential programme, we have now two post-graduate programs in ECE and CS departments, enhancing the infrastructure manifold. The student-teacher ratio is much above the AICTE norm of 1:13.  Sports and games are encouraged with the Tennis court in addition to Football and Basketball courts.  Entrepreneurship among students is fostered by way of an independent company 'TIST Consultancy Pvt. Ltd'.  Research tie-ups have been made with National Agencies. Educational research will get a boost with the MoU entered with NITTTR (National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research).  Need for Alternate Energy is met by solar-run computers. We strive to practice what we preach in class rooms.

TIST endeavors to shape the future of our students under the above guiding principles. Recognition given to TIST by an independent agency like 'NITCAA' (NIT Calicut) as an excellent engineering college in the last two consecutive years is a manifestation of the efforts taken by us.

We invite you to join us and share the unique experience of an enjoyable learning process.
