The Department started offering B.Tech programme in Civil Engineering in the year 2006. Our faculty comprises of highly qualified engineers having experience in both teaching and industry with many of them doing PhD. All faculty actively participating in research oriented programmes, design and construction programmes and quality improvement courses to improve their technical skills.



To transform into a studio creating change agents in civil engineering with professional competency, integrity and ethical values for serving the society with the highest level of proficiency through their chosen domain.

A graduate of Civil Engineering Program will demonstrate:

  • Ability to create new designs with materials of minimum embedded energy through research and development focusing on global quality of life.
  • Ability to recognize the need of the hour like housing, sanitation, waste management, use of renewable energy etc. for a sustainable environment.
  • Ability to analyze the effects of geological and environmental factors like earthquakes, tornadoes etc. and to apply the same to different civil engineering structures to make it stable under such adverse conditions.



1. B.Tech Civil Engineering


  The Department of Civil Engineering was constituted in the year 2006 with an undergraduate programme recognised by CUSAT with a sanctioned intake of 60 students. From 2015 admission onwards, the programme is affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU). The programme aims at producing highly qualified manpower in Civil Engineering to meet the rapid technological advances and industrial requirements.


 2. M.Tech in Construction Engineering & Management


 M.Tech in Construction Engineering and Management introduced in the year 2013 under the department of Civil Engineering provides Engineers and Researchers an opportunity to gain in depth knowledge in the field of management and design aspects related to Construction. The course is formulated such that the key areas of Construction Engineering are discussed to provide good understanding of the subject.


  In order to meet the current demands in construction industry , our M.Tech course provides Scientist, Engineers and Innovators alike a deep insight into Construction Engineering, Foundation Engineering, Earthquake Resistant Design, Design of Special Structures, Structural Dynamics, Metal Structures, Geotechnical Engineering, Legal Aspects in Construction, Fire and Safety Engineering, Rehabilitation, Computational Techniques, Prestressed Structures, Eco-friendly Construction.



 This is a four semester P.G Programme based on CUSAT syllabus. The course intake is 24 and GATE qualifiers are given preference in admission.


i)   B.Tech or equivalent degree with a First Class (60%) from any recognized University or Institution.

ii)  A valid GATE score (Those without GATE score, but having a good academic background will also be considered)
