Flood Relief activities of Department of Applied Psychology and Counselling
As part of the Flood relief activities , Department of Applied Psychology and Counselling has formed a group of 30 individuals (voluntarily from each batch of the PG Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy conducted by the Department ) under the leadership and guidance of Dr Alex Mathew, President , Toc H Public school society .
The aim of the group is to provide crisis counselling in the flood affected areas including schools free of cost.
The group was given training in Crisis counselling in the month of August 2018 The first session was handled by Dr Alex Mathew followed by Asst Prof Reena Madhu and Mr Fabil Varghese .
The groups activities started in the month of September 2018.
The first visit was to Standard Pottery School, Choornikara on 4/9/18. Sessions were handled and counselling given to students
The second visit was to SNDP school, Pallisery on 14/9/18 . Here too the group interacted with the teachers, students , sessions were handled and counselling given
Social Outreach Programmes 2017-18
The Social Outreach Programme is an ongoing activity undertaken by the Department. It consists of providing awareness classes and psychological counseling to students of Higher secondary schools. Sessions on Topics related to adolescent issues, drug/alcohol abuse, study skills , how to face examinations, stress, anxiety ,interpersonal relationships and Career guidance are handled. The sessions are handled by Ms. Reena Madhu and Mr. Fabil Varghese followed by personal and career counseling

The Department of Applied Psychology and Counselling, associated itself with the Department of Communicative English of St Teresa ‘s College , Ernakulam in conducting the National Level Public Relations Campaign “Stain the Stigma” , 2017-18 , an awareness campaign on Mensuration Hygiene.
