ABOUT KARMA
With an aim to mould students into a socially responsible person and to bring Smile into the weaker, downtrodden, Poor people in the society through collective action; we have launched a Programme in 2015 called “KARMA”.
KARMA is a voluntary group of students of Toc H, joined hands together for extending support to poor people in the society with an aim to bring happiness in them.
For joining this group there are no barriers, no restrictions, no registrations, and no formalities. Any student of TIST with an intention to help others can join this group. Anybody can join KARMA but every KARMA member must be capable to take up responsibilities which are ethically binding and must act to minimize the adverse conditions to those around them.
KARMA Received Voluntary Blood Donor Award in 2018 offered by IMA Blood bank, Kaloor, Cochin for arranging multiple blood donation drives in Toc H. Award was handed over by Justice Shivarajan, Former High Court Justice. Every Year KARMA organizes blood donation drives in association with various blood banks in cochin with an aim to support the blood requirements in various hospitals.
Children’s day celebrations
Date-14th November 2019
KARMA has organized Childrens day celebrations at Maher Orphanage, Perumpilly, Near Mulanthuruthy on 14th November 2019. The programme started at 5.40 pm at their assembly Hall. KARMA members and the inmates of MAHER showcased their talents. The event was well managed and it lasts for almost two hours. As a token of love we have arranged refreshment for all the participants.
Maher is an orphanage run by Sister Lucey, who belongs to Christian Catholic congregation based in Pune. There are 60 boys and girls of different age groups. Considering the School Hours it was scheduled at 5.30 pm after regular working hours. The event was attended by all the inmates of Maher, Office bearers of Maher, Amballur Gram Panchayath Member, JCI Club Representatives and few people from the Local Area. More than 50 students have joined the event from TIST.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO LATE DRIVER JAYAKUMAR BY KARMA
Jayakumar was working with our institution as our Bus Driver for the last five years. He was diagnosed with Stage four Cancer and treatment started. His family approached the management for financial support. KARMA took initiative to collect maximum fund as possible to support the deprived family. Unfortunately Jayakumar couldn’t survive and lost his life in the month of June 2019.
KARMA announced about the initiative in its official Whatsap group through posters and videos. We also planned to collect Paper scrap to generate maximum revenue. We had identified certain collection points in all the blocks and asked the students to keep scrap in the designated area. KARMA Volunteers approached departments to get used and old books, newspapers, record books, answer sheets etc. The idea had received a huge response and within a week we could collect more than 500 kilo grams of paper waste.
During the Onam vacation we sold all the collected paper scraps to Piravom based scrap merchant. We could raise an amount of Rs. 22.700 from the scraps. Through contribution by students we got an amount of Rs. 68980/- in addition to the above.
With the support of everyone we gave Rs. 82500/- to Jayakumar’s family on Kerala Piravi day by Dr. Alex Mathew, President, Toc H Public School Society. Secreteray Er.CS Vargeese, PTA President, Principal, KARMA Volunteers etc were present during the handing over.
CHRISTMAS Celebration at MAHER Snehabhavan

Toc H KARMA organized a Christmas celebration at MAHER Snehabhavan Orphanage and old age Home, Perumpally, Mulanthuruthy on 22.12.2021 at 5.30PM.
MAHER is a Charitable organization providing shelter and support to Destitute women, children and old age people founded in 1997; managed by Sister Lucy Kurien. At present there are 30 girl students and 7 old age people at the centre. KARMA volunteers performed musical live shows, dance programmes, lucky draw and other entertaining programmes in order to give the inmates a feeling of togetherness and caring. Gift hampers were distributed to all inmates of orphanage and shawls were given to all old age people.
MAHER Project Manager Mr. Vijayan gave an insight about the organization during the inaugural address. The programme ended at 7.30 PM with a cake cutting ceremony and followed by a Christmas dinner. We all had a beautiful Christmas dinner with them and left at 8.30 PM.
BLOOD DONATION DRIVE
17th June 2022
TIST KARMA AND TIST NSS jointly organized a one day Blood Donation drive at Radhakrishna Auditorium on 17th June 2022, in association with JCI Kochi Infopark and IMA Voluntary Blood Bank, Kochi.
The drive was inaugurated by Ernakulam Jilla Panchayath Member Mr. Eldo Tom Paul in the presence of IMA Medical officers, JCI Kochi Infopark Members, NSS Programme Officer Mr.Fabil Varghese, NSS Volunteers, KARMA volunteers, Faculty Members and fellow donors.
The Drive started at 9.30 AM and continued till 1.30 PM. They had managed to take 50 units of blood from students and JCI Members after necessary testing and counseling. Refreshments and certificates were distributed to all the donors and volunteers.
Christmas Celebrations at Janey Centre for Special Education, Eroor, Tripunithura
21st December 2019
A day filled with Joy, Music and much more was arranged for the differently abled at Janey Centre for Special education by KARMA in association with JCI club on 21st December 2019. We reached the centre at around 8.30 for doing the stage decorations. A small bus was arranged for the conveyance of students from TIST campus to the centre. The programme started at 9.45 with a carol song by KARMA members. A Christmas message was given by H.G Jospeh Mor Gregorios, Metropolitan of Cochin Jacobite Diocese. It was a blessed moment for all. We distributed cakes, Christmas gifts to all the kids of the centre. There are 82 inmates and 28 staffs. We also arranged special lunch for all the participants.
A Live instrumental Musical Fusion concert by BINU Tripunithura and team was performed for an hour. He performed it for free. We could extend a small financial support of an amount of Rs. 12,500 as a token of Love. JCI club also supported them by donating an amount of Rs 15,000.
CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION AT JANEY CENTRE SPECIAL SCHOOL

Karma has arranged a Christmas celebration at JANEY Centre Special School at Eroor, Tripunithura and KARMA student volunteers would greatly benefited from participating in this joyous event. The celebration was filled with festive activities that will enhance the social and cultural experiences of our students. HG Joseph Mor Gregorios Metropolitan of cochin Diocese was the chief guest of the function. Lunch was arranged for all inmates and participants. Tripunithura Muncipal chairperson, members of Mulanthuruthy Marthoman church, Delegates from Aspire Bangalore, IT professionals from Infopark and JCI participated in this event.
