Counselling, psychological support and a University-recognised Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, serving students and the wider community since 2013.
The Department of Applied Psychology & Counseling provides counselling services and psychological assistance to students across academic, behavioural, emotional and social areas, and works to give students the resources needed to achieve positive change and make informed, suitable choices.
Beyond direct student counselling, the department runs an IAAP-recognised Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (see Programme Offered) and undertakes community-facing outreach — psychometric assessment and counselling camps, and social programmes at government schools, orphanages, hospitals and old-age homes across Ernakulam district.
Each semester, consolidated student mentor forms from the engineering departments are transferred to the Psychology department, where students flagged for emotional, family or learning difficulties receive specialised counselling, remedial support and continued monitoring.
The Department is also conducting a Post Graduate Diploma programme in Counseling and Psychotherapy .It aims to build a second layer of counselors who will be armed with the fundamental of counselling .This course has been recognized by Indian Academy of Applied Psychology (IAAP) Chennai. The First batch started in August 2013.

The Valedictory Function of the Fifteenth batch of PG Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy was held on 23 rd August 2025 at Talbot Centre. The session marked the successful culmination of the one year long program, which was organized by Department of Applied Psychology and Counselling.
The function commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Mr. Santhosh, who highlighted the objectives and achievements of the event. This was followed by a brief presentation on the activities and sessions conducted during the course by Dr. Reena Madhu and Dr. Fabil Varghese, course coordinators. They encouraged the participants to carry forward the knowledge and skills they had acquired and also emphasized the importance of updating their
knowledge.
Certificates were distributed to all the participants, and special recognition was given to outstanding performers. Feedback from participants was also shared, reflecting the effectiveness and relevance of the course.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Rejitha, expressing gratitude to the participants and faculty for their support and cooperation.
The valedictory function thus marked a fitting finale to the event, leaving the participants
enriched and motivated.

The first batch of the diploma commenced in August 2013. The 16th batch began with an orientation on 7 March 2026 at the Talbot Centre, Toc H School, Vytilla, following the valedictory function of the 15th batch on 23 August 2025.

The valedictory function of the Thirteenth batch of the PG diploma in Counseling and Psychotherapy was held on 24th June 2023 at Toc H Public school, Vytilla.The function was presided over by Dr. Alex Mathew, President, Toc H Public school society.
Before the commencement of the formal function, Dr. Alex Mathew handled a session on “ Nuances of Counselling” , a two hour session in which he spoke about the significance of counseling.The formal function started with a prayer.
