The department that grounds every engineering, management and science programme at TIST in linear algebra, calculus, differential equations and discrete structures — and runs its own quiz, modelling and orientation programmes besides.
Mathematics is described by the department as the “Queen of all Sciences” — a foundational discipline emphasised across every stream at TIST. The department is staffed by veteran mathematicians and university rank holders whose teaching is credited with strengthening student performance across all engineering, management and science programmes.
“The essence of mathematics is not to make simple things complicated, but to make complicated things simple.” — Stanley Gudder
Rather than running its own degree programme, the department teaches core and applied mathematics courses into the B.Tech, M.Tech and MBA curricula of every other department, and separately runs student-facing enrichment activities of its own — orientation classes, remedial coaching, math clubs and an annual statewide quiz.
