All Kerala Intercollegiate Mathematics Quiz 2025 Organized by the Department of Mathematics, Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, Arakkunnam

The Department of Mathematics, Toc H Institute of Science and Technology (TIST), Arakkunnam, organized the All Kerala Intercollegiate Mathematics Quiz 2025 with great enthusiasm and participation from colleges across Kerala. The event aimed to inspire mathematical thinking and promote academic collaboration among young minds.

The day began with the All Kerala Intercollegiate Mathematics Quiz 2025, the most awaited intellectual highlight of the event.
The Quiz was conducted by Dr. Liju Alex, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, BCM College, Kottayam, an eminent academician, researcher, and engaging quiz master with extensive experience in the field of mathematics. His lively and insightful approach made the competition both challenging and enjoyable for the participants.

Following the quiz, the Valedictory Function began with a welcome speech delivered byDr. Reshmi R, Head of the Department of Mathematics, TIST. The function is presided byMr. Kurian Thomas, Manager, Toc H Public School Society, who delivered the Presidential Address, and Dr. Liju Alex, who presented the Keynote Address. The function also featured felicitations by Mr. Madhu Cherian, Secretary, Toc H Public School Society, and Prof. (Dr.) Preethy Thekketh, Principal, TIST.Students from different colleges in and around Ernakulam actively participated, showcasing their mathematical aptitude and teamwork.

The winners of the competition are

First Prize winners are Mr. Athul Sibichen& Mr. Hishen M.J from Nirmal College, Department of Mathematics, Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha. They got Ever-Rolling Trophy with a cash prize of Rs.3000. The second prize winners are Mr. Arikal Fabrizio Jose & Mr. Angelo George Joseph from M A College of Arts & Science, Kothamangalam. They got Trophy with a cash prize of Rs 2000/- and third prize winners are Mr. Harshit Kumar Singh & Mr. Abel Kurian from Department of Computer Science, TIST. They got Trophy with a cash prize of Rs 1500/-.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Asst. Prof. Asha G. Pillai, Department of Mathematics, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organizers.

The All Kerala Intercollegiate Mathematics Quiz 2025 was a resounding success, reflecting the Department’s commitment to fostering mathematical excellence, creativity, and collaborative learning among students across Kerala.

 

Intra Collegiate Mathematical Modelling Competition

The Mathematical Modelling Competition was conducted by the Department of Mathematics, on 27 March 2025.The participants were students of various departments of TIST. The competition was conducted for both Still Model and Working Model categories, where students showcased innovative and mathematically inspired models integrating theory with real-world applications. The prize distribution for the winners are awarded in All Kerala Inter Collegiate Mathematics Quiz Competition held on 17 October 2025. The prize winners are

  • First Prize winners for still model are Ms. Neha Sunil and Ms. Sheen Tharaken from Department of Information Technology. They got a cash prize of Rs 2000 with certificate. The second prize winners are Ms. Aiswarya Reghu and Ms. A. G. Nandana from Department of Civil Engineering. They got a cash prize of Rs 1500 with certificate.The third prize winners are Ms. Devananda Nair and Ms. Irine Paul from Department of Computer Science Engineering.They got a cash prize of Rs 1000 with certificate.
  • First Prize winners for working model are Mr.Sanjay P from Department of Mechanical Engineering. They got a cash prize of Rs 2000 with certificate. The second prize winners are Mr. Alan Roy and Mr. Sidharth R from Department of Mechanical Engineering. They got a cash prize of Rs 1500 with certificate. The third prize winners are Ms. Devananda Nair and Ms. Irine Paul from Department of Computer Science Engineering.They got a cash prize of Rs 1000 with certificate.
𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐀-𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐄 𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐒 𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐙 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍

The Department of Mathematics organized an 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐀-𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐄 𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐒 𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐙 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐨𝐧 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝐧𝐝, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒, 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟏 𝐏𝐌 𝐭𝐨 𝟑 𝐏𝐌 𝐚𝐭 𝐓𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥.

Ten teams, each consisting of two members from various departments, will participate in this competition. These teams include three from Computer Science Engineering, one from Civil Engineering, two from Electronics, two from Mechanical Engineering, one from Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and one from Electronics and Communication Engineering.

A screening test was conducted on October 18th, 2024, to select the final 10 teams from a pool of 91 participants across various departments.

Intra College Mathematical Model Building Competition             

The department of Mathematics has conducted Intra College Mathematical Model Building Competition on 18 December 2023. The competition aims to encourage the students to apply mathematical concepts and techniques to solve real – world problems. Through these competitions, participants learn to develop problem solving skills, enhance analytical and computational skills, promote team work and collaboration and communicate mathematical ideas .The competition was conducted for both Still and Working models. Mr. Alan Roy, Mr. Sidharth R and Mr. Abhishekh  Anil from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mr. Beaskrishna S from the Department of Civil Engineering jointly won the first prize for Still models. Ms. Irine Paul and Ms. Devananda Nair from the Department of Computer Science Engineering won the second prize. For working models, first prize winner was Mr. Omkarnath K Ajai  and second prize winner were  Mr. Alan Roy, Mr. Sidharth R and Mr. Abhishekh   Anil and third prize winners were  Mr. Adithya S and Mr. Varun M S from the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Congratulations to all the teams for their achievements!

Mathematics Orientation Course (2024-2025 Admission)

The Department of Mathematics, TIST conducts an orientation program every year for newly joined B Tech students. This year, the first batch of the program commences from June 24, 2024 to July 5, 2024 for duration of 10 days. The main aim of the program is to strengthen the foundational knowledge of mathematics, ensuring the core concepts essential for engineering disciplines. The next batches will commence on July 4, 2024 and July 10, 2024 respectively.

The Department of Mathematics has conducted the All Kerala Intercollegiate Mathematics Quiz Competition on December 6, 2023.
Various colleges from all over Kerala participated in this event turning it into a dynamic platform for intellectual exchange and spirited competition. The resource person was Asst.Prof. Liju Alex from BCM College Kottayam. He is an eminent personality in this field. The program conveyed a sound understanding of the concept and strategic thinking.
Krishnand K K and Rosa Mariam Sebastian from Sacred Hearts College Thevara bagged the first prize of Rs 3000, Memento and Ever rolling trophy. Meera S and Devananda K V from St Teresa’s College Ernakulam secured the second prize of Rs 2000 and a Memento. Job Biju Cherian and Naseem K K from Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology received the third prize of Rs 1500 and certificates.
