Library & Information Center

The TIST Library plays a vital role in supporting the academic mission of the institution by identifying and fulfilling the information needs of its diverse user community. The college maintains a centrally located Central Library which, along with the MBA Library, Digital Library, and 10 department-specific reference libraries, forms a robust library network accessible to students and faculty.

The Vivekananda Central Library, occupying 10,000 sq. ft., is fully automated and offers a comprehensive suite of academic resources and services. Library services are organized under the following units:

  • Vivekananda Central Library
  • Sarabhai Digital Library
  • C.K. Prahalad MBA Library
  • Department Reference Libraries

All operations are centrally managed by the Vivekananda Central Library under an open-access system. The collection is organized using the Dewey Decimal Classification System, and the entire library is computerized using KOHA, a web-based integrated library management software. The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) and Web OPAC allow users to search, access, and manage their library transactions (issue, renewal, overdue alerts) through personalized accounts.

Each user is issued a bar-coded ID card. Access control systems, Hands-free barcode scanners for Students and Staffs, are installed at the entrance. Surveillance cameras ensure a secure and regulated environment.

A well- arranged Digital Library equipped with 25 computer terminals, projector, screen, and audio system, provides access to a wide range of digital academic content including:

  • NPTEL Video Lectures
  • E-Journals and E-Books from platforms such as IEEE, ScienceDirect, EBSCO, Knimbus, DELNET, and the National Digital Library of India (NDLI)
  • More than 9,425 international e-books through EBSCO

These resources are accessible both on-campus and remotely via IP authentication and mobile platforms. Previous year question papers, seminar reports and project reports are available any where in the campus.

The library also subscribes to Turnitin plagiarism detection software to support research integrity.

The NAAC peer team that inspected the library facilities and services rated them as “Excellent”.
