IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)

The IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community to innovate for a better tomorrow through its more than 420,000 members in over 160 countries, and its highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities.

The IEEE student branch of TIST was established in the year 2006. Majority of the students of ECE & EEE are members of IEEE.

Recent Achievements
  • IEEE LINK FACE 2 FACE , was organized by the TIST IEEE student chapter in 2015. It was attended by 250 students from 50 colleges all over Kerala. The Chief Guest of the program was Mr. Varghese Cherian, Director UST Global.
  • Our student, Mr. Nidhin K Department of EC, attended IEEE R10 Student Congress 2015 at Colombo, Sri Lanka. He was one among the 15 student delegates from IEEE Kerala Section.

In addition to the periodic technical events being organized in the Institute, the chapter also conducts WIE STAR programs, wherein school students from neighboring schools visit our college laboratories. They are introduced to various engineering concepts and technological advancements, so as to create in them an urge to learn engineering and technology.

ACTIVITIES on  2024-2025
NASA Space App Challenge Boot Camp  

On October 1, 2024, the IEEE RAS successfully conducted a Boot Camp at Ramanujan Hall, aimed at fostering innovation and deepening participants’ understanding of technical subjects. The event attracted 100 students who engaged in research and presented new ideas, creating a platform for showcasing solutions to real-world problems.

ROBOVISION- Idea Pitching Competition Winners (IEEE RAS)

The IEEE RAS SBC Toc H recently held Robovision, an idea pitching competition designed to highlight the creativity of young entrepreneurs. Deepika Raj and Anjali Biju took first place with their innovative concept, while Sherin Shanavaz and Mohammed Nabeel Assim of S3 Robotics and Automation secured the second position. This event showcased the impressive potential of students in robotics and automation, offering them an important platform to present their ideas and inspire future innovations.

Resource Person: Skill Forge- Exploring Cutting-Edge Technology

On October 18th, the IEEE RAS Kerala Chapter conducted an exclusive hands-on workshop titled “Skill Forge: Step into the World of Cutting-Edge Technology” for school students at St. Joseph College of Engineering and Technology, Palai. The workshop featured Rizwan M. Shiras, a student from the S7 Robotics and Automation program, as the resource person. Rizwan, who also serves as the Chair of the IEEE Student Branch at Toc H, guided participants through various innovative technologies and practical applications, fostering engagement and enthusiasm for the field of robotics.

Hands-On with YOLOv8: A Step-by-Step Guide to Training Your Model”conducted by  IEEE Signal Processing Society

The workshop titled “Hands-On with Ultralytics YOLOv8: A Step-by-Step Guide to Training Your Model” was conducted on the 27th of September, with 26 students participating. The session provided an in-depth understanding of the YOLOv8 object detection framework, focusing on a step-by-step approach to model training. Students actively participated in the process, learning essential techniques like dataset preparation, model training, and validation to build robust object detection models. The workshop emphasized practical knowledge, ensuring students left with hands-on experience in working with YOLOv8.

Report: Gen Ai (IEEE RAS SBC Toc H)

On 29th July 2024, the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Student Branch Chapter (RAS SBC) at Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, in collaboration with IEEE SB Toc H, successfully conducted an online talk session titled ‘Gen Ai’. The session, held on Google Meet at 7:00 PM IST, was presented by Akhil J P, Lead AI/ML Engineer from Kennedy’s IQ. The talk aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of how generative AI is transforming various industries, including its applications and ethical implications. It also focused on how these tools can be leveraged to enhance creativity and improve work practices. Coordinated by Execom Members Sivapriya D, Vishnu Prasad, Sabin Saju, and Niharika Madhu, the session was attended by 20 participants. The presentation was engaging and interactive, offering valuable insights into the intricacies of generative AI.

REPORT: WORKSHOP ON ESP 32 & AI INTEGRATION (IEEE SPS SBC Toc H)

On 2nd August 2024, the IEEE Signal Processing Society Student Branch Chapter (SPS SBC) at Toc H Institute of Science and Technology successfully conducted a workshop on ESP32 & AI Integration. Held at Tagore Hall, Einstein Block, from 9:00 AM to 3:50 PM IST, the workshop aimed to provide a foundational understanding of AI concepts related to the ESP32 microcontroller. Coordinated by Nithin PB, Maria Abraham, Sandeep Prakash, and Alikha Balan, and featuring resource persons Amal KA and Vinu Antony from TinkerHub, the event included hands-on projects and challenging assignments. The workshop’s highlight was the exploration of integrating AI with ESP32, showcasing the potential at the intersection of hardware and artificial intelligence. This technical workshop successfully enhanced participants’ knowledge and skills in both microcontroller programming and AI.

Report: TECHSCRIBE (IEEE WiE SBAG Toc H)

The IEEE Women in Engineering Student Branch Affinity Group (WiE SBAG) at Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, in collaboration with IEEE WiE SBAGs of MACE, JECC, and CCE, successfully organized a technical paper writing competition titled ‘TECHSCRIBE’ on 4th April 2024 as part of the WiEmerge WiE Week Celebration 2024.

The competition aimed to foster original research and innovation, enhance technical writing skills, and promote knowledge sharing within the technical community. It encouraged critical thinking and problem-solving, provided professional development opportunities, and facilitated networking with industry experts. The event, a technical one, concluded at 11:45 PM IST on 4th April 2024.

A total of 26 IEEE members participated in the competition. The event began with participants submitting abstracts of their research, followed by the submission of full papers by selected participants. A judge reviewed these submissions, and finalists were chosen based on the quality of their papers. The winners were determined based on their written papers and presentations.

The First Prize was awarded to Alita Antony from Jyothi Engineering College, Cheruthuruthi. This competition effectively highlighted the participants’ technical writing skills and research contributions to the technical community.

REPORT:SHUTTERBUG (IEEE WiE SBAG Toc H)

The IEEE Women in Engineering Student Branch Affinity Group (WiE SBAG) at Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, in collaboration with IEEE WiE SBAGs of MACE, JECC, and CCE, successfully organized a photography competition titled ‘SHUTTERBUG’ on 2nd April 2024 as part of the WiEmerge WiE Week Celebration 2024. The competition, which centered on the theme “Strength in Vulnerability,” saw 24 IEEE members participating. Participants submitted their photos online by the 11:45 PM IST deadline, and a judge evaluated the entries based on creativity, technical skill, and adherence to the theme. The first prize was awarded to Harikrishnan K from Jyothi Engineering College, Cheruthuruthi.

Report: The Robotic Riddle (IEEE RAS SBC Toc H)

The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Student Branch Chapter at Toc H Institute of Science and Technology (IEEE RAS SBC Toc H), in association with IEEE SB Toc H, successfully hosted an online quiz competition named ‘The Robotic Riddle’ on 28th June 2024. The event was conducted via the official Instagram page of IEEE SB Toc H.

The primary goal of the event was to encourage interest in robotics, enhance problem-solving abilities, and provide a dynamic, interactive platform for participants to test and expand their knowledge while enjoying a competitive and educational experience. The event took place on 28th June 2024 at 7:30 PM IST and was coordinated by four Execom members.

A total of 50 participants joined the competition. Prior to the event, the Instagram platform link was shared with the participants. The quiz featured ten intriguing questions related to robotics, which were presented through an Instagram story poll. The top scorers were recognized and awarded certificates for their achievements. The winners of the competition were Alwin Shibu, Ardra Babu, and Devakrishna.

‘INNOHIVE’: From Idea To Impact  (IEEE WiE SBAG Toc H)

The IEEE Women in Engineering Student Branch Affinity Group (WiE SBAG) at Toc H, in collaboration with IEEE Student Branch Toc H, successfully organized the start-up pitching competition ‘INNOHIVE: From Idea to Impact’ on 5th April 2024. Coordinated by four Execom members, the event saw 16 IEEE members participating. The competition began with a briefing on the rules, followed by participants presenting their business concepts to the judge within a 5-minute time limit. Pitches were evaluated based on innovation, feasibility, social impact, presentation, and team capabilities. The first prize was awarded to Deva Nanda Nair and Anirudh K, both from S2 CSE, for their outstanding startup concept. The event effectively showcased the entrepreneurial talent within the IEEE community.

INSIGHTX HACKATHON (IEEE SPS SB Toc H)

IEEE SPS SBC Toc H successfully conducted Hackathon INSIGHTX, their first offline event, on 7th October 2023 at Ramanujan Hall, Aryabhata Block. The hackathon aimed to provide a conducive environment for participants to create and innovate projects. The event commenced with a briefing on rules and guidelines, followed by participants assembling their projects. Teams presented their innovative solutions to the judges, who evaluated them based on criteria such as creativity, feasibility, and presentation. The hackathon concluded with closing remarks from the judge and the SPS chair, acknowledging the participants’ efforts and ingenuity. The event was a resounding success, fostering a spirit of collaboration and showcasing impressive technical skills and innovation.

TALK ON APPLICATION OF NEURAL NETWORK IN SAFETY ENGINEERING (IEEE SPS SB Toc H)

IEEE SPS SB Toc H successfully conducted a talk on “Application of Neural Network in Safety Engineering” as part of their first event on 19th June 2023. This inaugural event marked the beginning of a series of educational and engaging sessions planned by the chapter. The main objective was to explore the integration of neural networks in safety engineering and their practical applications. The talk was attended by students, faculty members, and professionals interested in the intersection of neural networks and safety engineering. Dr. Gnanasheela K., a distinguished expert in the field, provided an in-depth analysis of how neural networks can be applied to enhance safety measures in various engineering domains.

TALK ON MATLAB APPLICATIONS WITH RESPECT TO POWER CONVERTERS (IEEE PES SBC Toc H)

IEEE PES SBC Toc H successfully coordinated a one-hour talk session on MATLAB applications with respect to power converters in association with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering on 4th July 2023. The session began at 7:00 PM with a welcome address by Sivapriya UR, Secretary of IEEE PES SBC Toc H. The resource person, Mr. Sumukh Surya, Senior Engineer at Bosch Software Technologies, then took over and provided an in-depth exploration of MATLAB basics and its industrial applications, specifically in power converters. He highlighted the importance of solvers in MATLAB and their various applications in this domain. The session concluded with a Q&A segment, followed by a vote of thanks from Asst. Prof. Mangala Devi K T, Chapter Advisor of IEEE PES SBC Toc H. Participants were also given a feedback form to provide their insights on the session.

IEEE PES DAY QUIZ PHASE ONE

IEEE PES SBC Toc H successfully coordinated Phase ONE of the IEEE DAY PES Quiz, held as part of IEEE DAY 2023 on October3rd. This phase aimed to test the knowledge of first-year students in the power and energy domain. Registered students were escorted to designated exam halls where invigilators distributed the question papers. After 15 minutes, answer papers were collected. Three students from Toc H were selected for the final rounds. Notably, Mr. Festin Biju from the Computer Science and Engineering department secured the 2nd prize in the event.

ONLINE QUIZ ON AI CHATBOTS (IEEE PES SBC Toc H)

An online quiz focusing on various current and trending subjects within the domain of artificial intelligence was successfully conducted on 30th June 2023.The quiz comprised multiple choice, true or false, and fill-in-the-blank type questions. Participants (33 registrations) were allowed a single attempt to answer the ten questions provided.

The quiz was hosted on Google Forms, a well-known and reliable platform for online surveys and quizzes. This ensured a smooth experience for participants, with no technical issues reported. Participants were able to access and complete the quiz seamlessly. Each participant had only one attempt to answer the questions, ensuring a fair and uniform evaluation process.

The online quiz on artificial intelligence was a success, thanks to the robust platform provided by Google Forms and the careful selection of relevant and trending topics. The participants engaged actively, reflecting the growing interest and importance of artificial intelligence in the current technological landscape

ACTIVITIES on  2022-2023

Project Expo

 The Project Expo, held on 12th and 13th April 2023 as a part of the National level Robotics conclave ‘ Robocon’23 ‘ organized by IEEE Toc H SB in association with IEEE RAS Kerala Chapter was a resounding success, showcasing innovative projects from various fields. The Expo witnessed a total of 16 groups from various educational institutions showcasing their projects across a range of disciplines, including Science, Technology and Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The Expo featured an array of projects covering topics such as renewable energy, robotics, artificial intelligence, and healthcare, among others. The event successfully encouraged an atmosphere of learning and collaboration, with attendees engaging in lively discussions with the participating groups. The judges evaluated each project based on its innovation, technical merit, and potential impact. The team ‘Sky Sentinel’ and ‘Electric vehicle’  from Toc H won the first prize and second prize respectively.

Talk on Remote Sensing

A talk on “Remote Sensing”, was conducted on 12th April 2023 as a part of the National level Robotics conclave ‘ Robocon’23 ‘ talk series organised by IEEE Toc H SB in association with IEEE RAS Kerala Chapter. The event featured an esteemed speaker, Dr. Abhilash S, director of ACARR. CUSAT who is an expert in the field of remote sensing. The speaker delivered an informative and engaging presentation on the principles of remote sensing, different types of sensors, data acquisition methods, and data analysis techniques. The speaker shared real-world examples and case studies to illustrate the practical applications of remote sensing in mapping, and climate change monitoring. Participants had the opportunity to interact with the speaker, asking questions and seeking clarification on specific topics.

Co-Creating with the Machine

A talk on “Co-creating with the machine”, was conducted on 13th April 2023 as a part of the National level Robotics conclave ‘ Robocon’23 ‘ talk series organised by IEEE Toc H SB in association with IEEE RAS Kerala Chapter. The event featured an esteemed speaker, Mr Arvind Sanjeev, Co-founder of ‘Lumen World’,  who is an expert in the field of artificial intelligence and human-machine collaboration. The talk aimed to explore the concept of co-creation between humans and machines, discussing the potential benefits, challenges, and ethical considerations. The talk generated thought-provoking discussions among participants and provided valuable insights into the future of collaboration between humans and machines.

Digital Twin for Cyber Physical System

A talk on “Digital Twin for Cyber Physical System”, was conducted on 12th April 2023 as a part of the National level Robotics conclave ‘ Robocon’23 ‘ talk series organised by IEEE Toc H SB in association with IEEE RAS Kerala Chapter. The event featured an esteemed speaker, Dr Nilotpal Chakraborty, Assistant Professor at IIIT Kotayam, who is an expert in the field of Cyber-physical systems and Digital Twin technology. The speaker delivered an informative and engaging presentation on the concept of Digital Twins and their role in enhancing the efficiency and performance of cyber-physical systems. Dr Nilotpal Chakraborty delivered an insightful presentation, discussing the principles, applications, and benefits of Digital Twin technology. The talk generated engaging discussions among participants and provided valuable insights into the future of cyber-physical systems and their integration with Digital Twin models.

Entrepreneurship and building a carrier stock market

 A talk on Entrepreneurship and building a carrier stock market, was conducted on 12th April 2023 as a part of the National level Robotics conclave ‘ Robocon’23 ‘ talk series organised by IEEE Toc H SB in association with IEEE RAS Kerala Chapter. The event featured an esteemed speaker Mr Vibipal Raveendran,founder and CEO of Growio Trading Consultancy, who is an entrepreneur and stock market expert. This session inspired and guided the participants on the path of entrepreneurship and provided insights into the stock market as a potential career option. Mr Vibipal Raveendran delivered an engaging and informative presentation, sharing personal experiences, success stories, and practical tips for starting a business and navigating the stock market. The talk sparked interactive discussions among participants, enabling them to gain valuable knowledge and inspiration for their entrepreneurial journey.

PCB DESIGN WORKSHOP

A workshop on PCB DESIGN WORKSHOP, was organized on 13th April 2023 as a part of the National level Robotics conclave ‘ Robocon’23 ‘ organised by IEEE Toc H SB in association with IEEE RAS Kerala Chapter. An enthusiastic group of 41 students attended the workshop. The session was handled by Ms.Kallu, Co-founder, Revertech IT Solution. This hands-on workshop provided a comprehensive understanding of EASYEDA software, PCB design principles and layout, and the use of routing and design verification. The event successfully fostered collaboration and knowledge exchange among attendees, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge to excel in the field of PCB design.

ACTIVITIES on  2020-2021
Revival 2022

IEEE SB Toc H in association with IEEE Kerala Section SIGHT  organized an event ‘REVIVAL’ on 5th March at Mithram School and Rehabilitation Centre as part of the National Science Week.

The event included a project expo, drone display and cultural by the students. As a social initiative, IEEE SB handed over two automatic hand sanitiser dispensers, developed by the students of Toc H to Mithram school.

Execomm 2022

The first EXECOM meeting of the new members for the academic year 2021-22 of the IEEE Student Branch of Toc H Institute of Science & Technology(IEEE SB Toc H)  was held at Ramanujam Hall on  February 18th, 2022. Toc H SB  Counsellor and RAS coordinator, Dr Deepa Elizabeth George, WIE coordinator Ms Dhanya R, and PES coordinator Ms Mangala Devi were present for the meeting.

IEEE chair Mr Sreesankar made a presentation on the roles and responsibilities of the various chapter leads followed by an interactive session of the execom.

The chapter advisors wished all success to the execom to encourage active participation of IEEE members and to bring up the SB to greater heights.

IEEE  SIGHT  Week celebrations April 2021  in association with TIST RAS & PES Student Branch Chapters & WIE 
  • SMARTY PINTS is a fun technical event. It is an event to bring out the creative minds among the engineering students. This event will definitely be a stress reliever for the students during this pandemic. The event is conducted in collaboration with RAS SBC TIST, PES SBC TIST and WIE TIST.
  • The participation can be individual or as a team of two.
  •  The competition will be conducted through WhatsApp.
  • The game consists of two qualifying rounds and the final round.
  •  The main focus of the event is to test the creative skills of the participants.
  • Participants are required to give engineering based funny captions for the images being shared within the limited time.
  • Judgement will be strictly based on creativity.

QUIZOPHILE is a quiz competition based on robotics and electronics. This event is a mind-cracking session that will help the students to bring out their extra knowledge into action. The event is conducted in collaboration with RAS SBC TIST, IEEE WIE TIST.

  • The competition is conducted through the Kahoot platform.
  • Questions are in MCQ format.
  • The timing of each question is based on the difficulty level.
  • The main focus of the event is to analyze the knowledge of participants in Robotics and Electronics.
  • The winners are selected on the basis of the minimum time and the maximum number of correct answers.

This is an information-based event in which the contestants use their collective brainpower to solve the questions. This will be a fun event as well. All you need is good thinking skills and some general knowledge. The participants will be able to test their creative skills by participating in this event. The event is conducted in collaboration with IEEE SIGHT TIST and WIE TIST as a part of SIGHT week.

      The event consists of 3 Rounds:

  1. Math puzzles and riddles: In this round, the participants will be given some tricky puzzles and brainteasers. 
  2. Technical questions and taglines: This round focuses on the participant’s technical knowledge and also, they will be given some famous brand or company taglines.
  3. Women in Science: This is a kind of general knowledge quiz fully based on women related to science.

CODIGO is a technical event to inspire the students to improve and showcase their amazing programming skills. This event also promotes the need for coding in the new and coming generations for the vast digital applications. This surely helps them to bring out their competitive skills along with the use of knowledge as a powerful tool. The event is conducted in collaboration with IEEE RAS TIST and the event is conducted as the inaugural event of RAS.

  • The participation was individual. 
  • The competition is conducted through the online platform Kahoot. 
  • The event consists of two levels: 

Level 1 is a selection level which was an MCQ quiz on coding basics 

Level 2 is a problem given the programming round. 

  • The main focus of the event is to enhance participant’s coding skills. 
  • Judgment will be strictly based on the correctness of the given codes.

QFiesta is a quiz competition based on power and energy. This event is a mind-cracking session that will help the students to bring out their extra knowledge into action. The event is conducted in collaboration with PES SBC TIST as a part of IEEE PES day 2021. It is conducted as the inaugural event of PES.

  • The quiz will be conducted on the Kahoot platform.
  • Quiz based on renewable energy and its applications.
  • Questions are of MCQ format
  • The timing of each question will be based on the difficulty level of the question.
  • The quiz’s main goal is to assess participant’s knowledge of clean renewable energy.
  • The participants must be online 10 mins before the commencement of the quiz.
  • The link to attend the quiz will be shared in the WhatsApp group.
  • The winner will be selected based on a maximum number of correct answers received in the shortest time.

ACTIVITIES on  2019-2020

To encourage the students to widen their technical knowledge, IEEE TIST SB conducted The Technical Quiz Competition as a part of Science Week on 03/03/2020 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Ramanujan Hall.

The first prize for this event was shared by Cliffin K Jose and Jitto P V, S6 ECE, Second prize was won by Simyon Thampi, S2 RA, and the Third prize by Manaswini, S6 ECE.

The monthly cycle of spectrum talk was held by IEEE TocH SB on the 5th of March 2020 at the DL in the Aryabhatta Block. It was attended by the executive committee of IEEE TIST. The speaker, Anna Treesa Bobby, S2 ECE, spoke briefly on the theory of Black Hole. Emphasis was given to the discovery and formation of Black and its first capture. It was an insightful and interactive session. The talk lasted 15 minutes and an additional 5 minutes was spent to clear any queries on the topic. Ex-Chair, Ajay Philip delivered the vote of Thanks. The session concluded with a discussion on the committee’s upcoming projects and activities.

The Blogging Competition, affiliated with the WIE week, was organized by the IEEE TIST SB from 17th of March 2020 till 23rd of March 2020. It was an online competition. 8 students participated.

They were asked to write a blog based on the theme of the week “’Lets Celebrate Her Colour’ .Darsana Venu, CSE, S6, TIST was announced as the winner.

Carpelibrum, the Technical Review writing competition, a pre-event writing competition held in association with the IEEE Kochi Hub as a part of the cluster event was organized by the IEEE TIST SB from 23rd March to 28th March 2020. The event was conducted Online. There were 38 participants. The participants were given the topic ‘Quantum Computing’ to write a review on. FIRST PRIZE for the event was bagged by Sayoojya KK, Govt.RIT, Kottayam, Cluster 1 and Second prize by Arjun Sunil Kumar, Rajagiri College Of Engineering and Technology, Cluster 7.

On behalf of Wie week, IEEE TIST SB conducted The Quiz Competition on 26/03/2020 through an online platform Kahoot. The Quiz was related to topics that include Women in engineering. A total of 18 students participated in this event. The first prize was won by Praveen Ratnakumar, EC, S2, TIST, the Second prize by Nikhita Marian Cherish, EC, TIST, and the Third prize by Anna Treesa Bobby, EC, S2, TIST.

The Aurkezpen competition, in context to the pandemic, was organized by the IEEE TIST SB from the 19th of May 2020 till 23rd of May 2020. It was an online competition. The students were asked to make a PowerPoint on the topic “proper disposal of masks and gloves”. The PowerPoint was also to include the guidelines/methods to prevent the spreading of the covid-19 virus. The winner for the event was Praveen Ratnakumar, ECE, S2, TIST.

WIE Summit 2019 was held in Toc H Institute of Science and technology dated on 21st, 22nd, and 23rd of July 2019 which had gathered students from across various engineering colleges of Kerala. The summit was a 3 day-long program, with various workshops that spread knowledge among the delegates, various fun-oriented activities, technical rounds and so on.

IEEE WOMEN IN ENGINEERING (WIE) is a global network of IEEE members and volunteers dedicated to promoting women engineers and scientists, and inspiring girls around the world to follow their academic interest in a career in engineering and science.

The first-day welcomed a team of speakers from Prayaana, a unique employability, entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem for women. Ms. Chandra Vadhana, the founder and chief mentor at Prayaana and Founder and at 4Tunefactory.

The Mentorship Program for girls, an initiative of IEEE Kochi Hub which had begun during the WIE Week 2019 successfully completed its first phase of training with a hackathon on the first day of WIES 19. This year’s training was based on Web development and websites were created by the students on the problem: Travel page, Incredible India.

A session on “Introduction to Version Control System via Git and GitHub” was conducted.The session was conducted in association with IEEE ORE(Outreach for Resources in Engineering) community. Majority of the attendees were not aware of any VCS software before the session and this was able to give a broader view of the working of teams in the software-relatedindustry.

The workshop helped the students to come out of their comfort zones and interact with the students of various colleges. By means of various activities and tasks they were conveyed the importance of women in entrepreneurship and that they must break through the nutshell that pertains around them and open up. The session boosted up their confidence level as sensitive and delicate matters were taken care of and dealt in simple manner.

It was a very informative session that taught about the various different cyber attacks and the measures that can be taken to prevent them. The session mainly focused on Achievement of security by updating OS, Dark web, IP address, port no., protocols and packets.In addition to this they were also briefed on CYBER FORENSICS which marks itself as a sub branch of cyber security WI-FI cracking, Hashing tool, Virtualization, Mobile forensics

  1. Science Week: A Quiz program (spectrum) was organized for all the IEEE SB members as part of science week on 8th march 2019.The quiz basically gave its students a vague idea on “spaceX”. This program was actively participated by the 1st years and the 2nd years. The 1st prize was bagged by Sheethal Elizabeth, S2 ECE.
  2. A talk on spaceX: A talk was taken up  by Ashna Wilson of ECE S4 ,where the students were briefed about  spaceX  and their various space transportation sevices, conducted on 15th may 2019
  3. PES QUIZ: A Quiz competition was organized by the power electronic society on 10th October 2019. The quiz mainly emphasized on the current affairs, general knowledge, science and engineering and much more. The students were provided crucial 20 minutes to attempt the questions and at the end of this healthy competition 2 students namely Fenil sunny and Anoj reji from the Robotics and Automation engineering (1ST year) were awarded 1st and 2nd prizes respectively.
IEEE KOCHI HUB MEET 2018

The premier event of IEEE Kochi Hub KHM 18 was held at Toc H Institute of Science and technology on July 20, 21, 22.KHM as always was a full-fledged event for every technical aspirant. The footfall for the event overflowed 200 delegates. The event marked its beginning with an elegant inauguration with Mr. C Balagopal IAS as our chief guest along with Toc H Society President Dr.Alex Mathew, Dr. Preethi Thekkath, IEEE TIST SB Branch councelor Dr, Deepa Elizabeth George,Kochi Hub HSR Mr. Sahil Sameer,IEE TIST SB Chairperson Fathima Nafeesa V.Y on the dice. The event witnessed workshops that comprised of technical and managerial added with interactive sessions from many eminent personalities. The participants also enjoyed a DJ groove and a peaceful campfire night.

KHM 2018 was an extravaganza that was solely possible due to the zest and zeal of an ardent group of volunteers who put on their time and effort for its success. The passionate organizing group included the IEEE link team of Kochi Hub, IEEE student branch of Toc H Institute of Science and technology.

IEEE International Conference on Emerging Trends and Innovation in Engineering and Technological Research (ICETIETR 2018)

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized an IEEE International Conference on Emerging Trends and Innovation in Engineering and Technological Research (ICETIETR 2018) which was held from 11th to 13th July at TOC H Institute of Science and Technology, Arakkunnam, Eranakulam.

The International conference was inaugurated by honorable Vice Chancellor of CUSAT, Dr. J Letha on 11th July, 2018. The inaugural ceremony was presided by Dr. Alex Mathew (President, Toc H Public School Society). Dr. Deepa Elizabeth George (Conference General Chair & Head of ECE Department) addressed the gathering with a warm welcome. Dr. Hong Jer Lang (Chief Research Officer, Evault Technologies Sadn.Bhd. Malaysia) , Dr. Mini Ulanat (Chair, WIE AG of IEEE Kerala Section), Dr. R.Rajesh Kannan (Scientist, Center for Nano Science and Nanotechnology, Kalpakkam), Dr. R.Balaji (Scientist, Center for Fuel Cell Technology, ARCI, Chennai), and Mr. Shahim Baker (Secretary, IEEE Kerala Section) were the guests of honor. The conference was technically co-sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
