UDYAMA
Industry Academia Government Conclave-, Udyam 1.0, is a long-term initiative developed and implemented by the Directorate of Technical Education under the Kerala Government’s Higher Education Department. The program is designed to address the skill gap between the current courses offered in the engineering and polytechnic sectors and the demands of the industry. Its main objectives include gathering recommendations from industry representatives to reform the curriculum, identifying the skills required in the industry, designing add-on courses alongside existing programs to provide relevant training, and ensuring the involvement of alumni and industry in internship programs.
As part of the preparations, pre-conclave events are being conducted in all technical institutions across Kerala for about three months, starting from August 21st. Additionally, an Open House will be held to raise awareness about the opportunities in technical education among public school students. The event will serve as a platform for alumni entrepreneurs, industry representatives, and educational experts to interact with students and teachers, as well as an Open Forum for the public and parents to share their views and feedback.
The conclave will feature debates, cultural programs, student project exhibitions, and industrial product displays, culminating in panel discussions with international representatives. The conclave’s long-term goals include the creation of a vision document for the technical education sector and the introduction of short-term courses to meet industry demands and close the skill gap.
The district-level inauguration of the pre-conclave events for Ernakulam took place on September 3, 2024, at 11 AM at Toc H Institute of Science & Technology. The event was presided over by Kurian Thomas, Manager of the Toc H Public School Society, and the official inauguration was conducted by Anup Jacob MLA. The Joint Director of the Technical Education Department, Mrs.Ani Abraham, gave the welcome address, and the College Udyam Coordinator, Dr.Resmi R, presented the project details. ShajiMadhavan, President of Mulanthuruthy Block Panchayat; Madhu Cherian, Secretary of Toc H Public School Society; and Dr.PreethiThekketh, Principal, extended their greetings. Mariamma Benny, President of MulanthuruthyGramaPanchayat, also participated in the event.Dr. GnanaSheela ,the College Udyam Coordinator, delivered the vote of thanks.
Following the inauguration, a workshop on 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing was conducted by Dr. Rajesh Kocheril and Asst. Prof.Lovin K. John.
