Talk by German Academy of Digital Education
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of TIST organized an orientation session on opportunities offered for higher studies abroad conducted by the German Academy of Digital Education on September 11, 2025 . The session was led by Mr. Vikram Singh, Consultant,DAAB,who introduced the opportunities offered by the academy for students aspiring to pursue higher studies in Germany after B.Tech. He explained the support and guidance provided by the academy to help students prepare for academic and professional pathways abroad. The program was attended by S3 EEE students, giving them valuable insights into international education prospects and career development.
Overseas Education Session
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of TIST organized an orientation session for the students S5 & S7 EEE. The session was led by Ms. Sophia Begum, distinguished alumna of the EEE Department TIST, and currently associated with AISLIN INTERNATIONAL, Ernakulam.
During the session, Ms. Sophia Begum shared valuable insights into the opportunities available for pursuing higher studies abroad. She highlighted the application procedures, admission requirements, scholarship options, and career prospects in various countries. She also emphasized the importance of planning ahead, preparing well for international entrance tests, and enhancing technical as well as communication skills to succeed in global academic environments.
The session was highly informative and interactive, enabling students to clarify their doubts regarding overseas education pathways. It also served as a motivation for students to explore international opportunities and broaden their horizons for future career growth.
Motivational Session for First Year Students
On 23rd October 2025, Dr. Alex Mathew, Director and Former President of the Toc H Public School Society, addressed the first-year students of Department of EEE,TIST in an inspiring session. He motivated the students to stay focused on their academic goals and shared valuable insights on maintaining consistency and discipline. Dr. Alex emphasized the importance of avoiding distractions in today’s fast-paced world and encouraged students to develop positive habits that foster personal and professional growth. The interactive session left the students inspired and determined to make the most of their learning journey at TIST.
Invited Talk for First Year EEE Parents
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering jointly organized an invited talk for the parents of first-year EEE students on 24th October 2025 at Tagore Hall, Einstein Block.
The session was led by Dr. Alex Mathew, Director and Former President of the Toc H Public School Society, on the topic “Shifting Family Dynamics and Understanding the Emotional World of Our Children.”
Dr. Alex Mathew shared valuable insights on the evolving nature of family relationships and emphasized the importance of understanding the emotional needs of today’s generation. The interactive talk encouraged parents to build stronger connections with their children through empathy, communication, and emotional awareness.
Workshop on Machine Learning at IIT Palakkad
As part of Petrichor ’26, the techno-cultural fest of IIT Palakkad, seven students of s1 EEE ,TIST attended a workshop on Introduction to Machine Learning on 27th September. The session introduced the fundamentals of machine learning, simple program applications, and its real-world significance. The workshop enriched the students’ knowledge and inspired them to explore this rapidly growing field further
Expert Talk on Solar Grid Integration
The Energy Cell of the Department of EEE at Toc H Institute of Science and Technology organized an expert talk on “Solar Grid Integration” on September 8, 2025 at Tagore Hall.
The session was led by Mr. Antony K L, Technical Consultant, Sustainize Technologies Pvt. Ltd., who shared valuable insights on the integration of solar energy into the power grid, its challenges, and future opportunities.
Students from S7 EEE, S5 EEE, S5 EL, and S3 EEE actively participated in the session, gaining a deeper understanding of renewable energy applications and grid-level solutions.
The program provided an excellent platform for students to connect theoretical knowledge with practical industry expertise in the growing field of sustainable energy.
1. Workshop on Moral Values – Induction Program 2025
As part of the First Year Induction Program 2025, the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering and the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Toc H Institute of Science & Technology (TIST) organized an Expert Talk on Moral Values on 19th August 2025 at the Einstein Block.
The session titled “Seeds of Goodness – Ethics & Essence” was delivered by Dr. Fabil Varghese (M.A (Eng), M.Sc (Psy), M.Phil (Psy), PGDCP, Ph.D (Psy)), a distinguished psychologist, counsellor, and academician.
The interactive session highlighted the importance of moral values, ethics, and positive personality development in shaping young minds. Dr. Varghese emphasized the role of values in building a strong foundation for personal and professional life, encouraging students to nurture goodness and responsibility as future engineers.
The workshop provided students with meaningful insights into self-awareness, ethical decision-making, and the essence of leading a balanced and purposeful life.
2. Expert Talk on Startups – Induction Program 2025
As part of the First Year Induction Program 2025, the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering and the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Toc H Institute of Science & Technology (TIST), in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized an inspiring talk on “How to Start Building Startups: In College, and After” on 20th August 2025 at the Einstein Block.
The session was led by Mr. Sharan Varma, a young and dynamic entrepreneur who began his entrepreneurial journey during his second year of B.Tech. Since then, he has co-founded multiple startups and launched products across diverse domains including finance, construction, entertainment, healthcare, and artificial intelligence.
About the Speaker:

- Currently building in Healthcare (Meeval Care) and AI (YE Stack)
- Experienced in technical development, fundraising, team building, and startup challenges
- Member of a venture studio in Kochi supporting founders worldwide in building their first products
During the talk, Sharan highlighted that the best time to start building isn’t after graduation—it’s right now. He encouraged students to embrace experimentation, resilience, and teamwork as they explore entrepreneurship during their college years. His journey, filled with both successes and valuable failures, gave students a real-world perspective on innovation, risk-taking, and creating impactful solutions.
The session motivated first-year students to think beyond academics, explore entrepreneurial opportunities, and leverage their college years to build strong foundations for their future careers.
- GATE Awareness Session by EdzumoPvt. Ltd.
On July 18th, 2025, a GATE awareness session was conducted for S3 and S5 EEE students at TIST by experts from EdzumoPvt. Ltd. The session highlighted the importance of GATE for higher studies and PSU careers, covering exam patterns, preparation tips, and career opportunities. The interactive session motivated students to begin early preparation and was well-received by all participants.
- Innovate with Arduino: Hands-On Workshop for EEE Students
A hands-on Arduino workshop was held on July 31st, 2025, for S5 and S7 EEE students at TIST, led by Ms.Aeliswa, Assistant Professor, Department of EEE. The session introduced students to Arduino programming and real-time applications. A project competition followed, where students showcased innovative prototypes. The best team received a cash prize for their creativity and technical skills. The workshop enhanced students’ understanding of microcontroller-based systems, coding, and sensor integration—encouraging practical learning and innovation in line with the department’s vision.
TALK ON “ HOW TO PLAN A STARTUP -Logical and Ethical steps
On March 12th, 2025, Department of EEE, incorporated with IIC and IEEE conducted an informative session on “How to Plan a Startup: Legal and Ethical Steps” by Adv. Titus Thomas at 1:45 pm at Ramanujan Hall. Students of S4 EEE & S4 ELE attended the session. Students gained the essential knowledge about business registration, compliance, intellectual property, and ethical decision-making. The session enhanced awareness of financial regulations, risk management, and consumer protection while offering networking opportunities with experts. This knowledge ensured a responsible and legally sound startup foundation, fostering long-term success.
TALK ON ENERGY MOBILITY FOR FUTURE
The Department of EEE &ELE jointly organised an insightful session on “Energy and Mobility for Future” on 20th February 2025 at 10:30 AM in Tagore Hall. This event aims to shed light on the future of energy solutions and mobility innovations, crucial for sustainable development and technological advancements. Dr. Arun Eldho Alias, HOD in charge of the EEE Department at MBITS and the Founder & CEO of RENVOLT Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd. was the resource person. The session was highly relevant for students, researchers, and professionals interested in green energy, electric mobility& sustainable technological solutions. It provided valuable industry insights and a chance to interact with an expert shaping the future of energy solutions.
TALK ON STUDENT ETHICS
On February 18, 2025 Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) and Electrical&Computer Engineering (ELE) jointly organized a talk on “Student Ethics”, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to fostering a strong ethical foundation among students. Dr. Fabil Varghese, Assistant Professor at TIST, who brings expertise in professional ethics and student development was the resource person. Students from S4 EEE and S4 ELE attended the session. This session focusedon the importance of ethics in student life, covering topics such as academic integrity, moral responsibility, professional conduct, and ethical decision-making in both academic and personal settings. The session helped students to gain a deeper understanding of ethical behaviour and its significance in their academic journey and future careers.
WEBINAR ON IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION SKILL IN PROFESSIONAL LIFE
On 10th January 2025 Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organised a webinar on “Importance of Communication Skill in Professional Life” . Ms. Pooja K Pai, (Alumni, EE – 2017 – 21 Batch), Senior HR Associate ( EU,ZA, CAN )Amazon – Banglore , was the resource person. A total of 20 students from EEE, 26 from ELE and 4 faculty members attended the session. The session provided students with valuable insights into the importance of mastering the English language, preparing for job interviews, and understanding the current job market.
Introduction to Electrical Measurements
A hands on workshop on “INTRODUCTION TO ELECTRICAL MEASUREMENTS”was conducted on 27th November 2024. The event was conducted for first semester EEE students.by Ms. Sreelegha Rajeev, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in the Electrical Measurements Lab. This workshop aims to link theoretical knowledge with practical skills, allowing participants to gain a deeper understanding of electrical measurements.
A TECHNICAL TALK EMPHASIZING IN-PLANT TRAINING PROGRAMS
A Technical talk on the importance of in-plant training programs in bridging the gap between academic learning and industry practice was arranged for S8 EEE & ELE students on 4/12/2024The session aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation, offering insights into the operational processes used in modern industries. IPCS Global, a leading provider of industrial automation and control systems solutions, is organizing an in-plant training session aimed at equipping participants with practical knowledge of the latest technologies in automation. The training will be conducted in-campus with duration of 6hrs per week and provided a hands-on learning experience to all attendees. IPCS Global is committed to offering top-notch placement service.
Hydrogen the Future Fuel
The seminar on “Hydrogen: The Future Fuel,” led by Santosh Kumar Varshney, was a resounding success,104 diverse audience from Schools, Engineering colleges, Polytechnics and Staffs eager to explore the potential of hydrogen in the energy landscape.
The seminar on “Hydrogen the future Fuel” aims to provide an overview of hydrogen as a fuel source, including its production methods, applications, and benefits.Discuss recent innovations in hydrogen production, storage, and fuel cell technology. Analyse hydrogen’s role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and its potential to support a transition to a more sustainable energy system.Highlight various sectors where hydrogen can be implemented, such as transportation, industrial processes, and energy storage.Review current policies supporting hydrogen development and discuss regulatory challenges and opportunities.Evaluate the economic aspects of hydrogen production and its competitiveness compared to other energy sources.Facilitate connections between industry professionals, researchers, and policymakers to foster collaboration in hydrogen research and development.Discuss the future potential of hydrogen as an energy carrier and its role in achieving energy security and sustainability goals.
An awareness session on Labview was conducted by Blauskills on 9.8.2024 from 7 pm to 8 pm for final and pre-final year students. The trainers offered an overview on Lab VIEW internship at their company which offers hands-on experience for data acquisition and system design, enhancing technical and problem-solving skills. Also the students will gain real-world project experience, develop industry-specific expertise, and build a professional network.
WORKSHOP ON CYBER SECURITY
On 5th August 2024, students from S7 EEE (2021 Admission) participated in one day Workshop on Cyber Security organized by IEEE PES SB TocH. Mr. Sarath G, Cyber Forensics & Intelligence consultant , Xerolok was the resource person. The workshop provided valuable insights into the current state and future direction of cyber security. The event fostered collaboration and knowledge sharing among participants, equipping them with the tools and knowledge needed to tackle cyber security challenges. The workshop encouraged the adoption of AI, machine learning, and other advanced technologies to enhance cyber security measures.
TALK ON INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION USING PLC & SCADA
A technical talk in industrial automation using PLC & SCADA was given to S7 EE & ELE sudents on July 22nd 2024 by IPCS GLOBAL team. IPCS Global assures Practical and Industry-Oriented Training from Top Technical Experts, along with Real-time Projects and Top Placement Assistance. The training programs provide the best practice in the latest technologies, trends, and challenges in the immensely competitive areas of automation and embedded technologies. an interactive session on courses like PLC SCADA DCS HMI control panel designing and the placement opportunities was discussed.

WORKSHOP ON INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS AND IP MANAGEMENT FOR STARTUP
With an aim of establishing a basic level of IP awareness amongst the workshop participants, a Workshop on Intellectual property rights and IP Management for Startup was organized by IEDC TIST & IIC in association with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering on 8th May 2024 at Tagore Hall, Toc H Institute of Science & Technology. Adv. Kailesh Gopi, Intellectual Property Attorney and associate Advocate, TCG Swamy & Associates was the resource person.
FDP ON CAD FOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering had successfully organized a 3-day workshop on Electrical CAD for the faculty of EEE and EL. The training program imparted a hands-on practice in mastery the drawing of electrical machines, multi-storeyed buildings etc using AutoCAD and Electrical CAD software. Throughout 3-day duration attendees actively engaged in the assignments, project works and drawing practices. Mr Sreehari S Assistant Professor in EEE, ASIET, (Diploma in AutoCAD) was the resource person for the workshop.
TALK ON ELECTRICAL SAFETY
On 5th March 2024 Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering in association with Electrical Inspectorate, Ernakulam organized a talk on Electrical safety. Inaugural address was delivered by Deputy Electrical Inspector Mr. Rajendran. Classes were handled by Asst. Electrical Inspector Joseph Kuriakose K, Asst. Electrical Inspector Dhanus D S & Asst. Electrical Inspector Athulya P S.
TALK ON COMPARISON OF LATEST COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES
On 20th March 2024, EEE department organized a talk on Comparison of the latest Communication Technologies. Dr. Perumal Sankar S., Professor, ECE, TIST was the resource person.
WORKSHOP ON LED BULB MAKING & MAINTENANCE
On 25th February 2024 IEEE PES hosted a LED bulb Making & Maintenance workshop. The Workshop helped students in enhancing their Practical Skills. Mr. Sabir P, LED instructor at Elight Industries Malappuram and substation operator at KSEB Malappuram was the resoure person. The session enhanced comprehension of fundamental components, spanning construction principles to hands-on assembly techniques. It also helped students to acquire invaluable proficiency in soldering, troubleshooting, and circuit analysis.
