ISHRAE STUDENT CHAPTER

The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE), was founded in 1981 at New Delhi by a group of eminent HVAC&R professionals. ISHRAE today has more than 12,000 HVAC&R professionals as members and additionally there are 7,500 Student-members. ISHRAE operates from 41 Chapters and sub Chapters spread all over India, with HQ in Delhi.

The Chapters of the Society participate in, and organize, activities to protect the Environment, improve Indoor Air Quality, help Energy Conservation, provide continuing education to the Members and others in the HVAC & related user Industries and offer certification programs, career guidance to students at the local colleges and tertiary institutions.

ISHRAE Job Junction

Job Junction is an initiative by ISHRAE to provide job opportunities to fresh graduate engineers & diploma holders and helping industries to recruit right personnel. Job Junction will be organised in various cities (Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore & Mumbai) to facilitate students and employers across India.

ISHRAE chapter in TIST enables the students of Mechanical Engineering, TIST to get enrolled in Job Junction to find placements after their degree course.

The Student Chapter of ISHRAE KOCHI at Toc H Institute of Science and Technology organized an educational visit to the plant room of OBERON MALL on 22/03/2024. The objective of this industry visit was to provide students with practical insights into the functioning of HVAC systems in a commercial setting.

The visit was facilitated by Mr. Jomin Joseph, Manager at Bluestar Limited. His expertise and industry experience enabled him to deliver an informative session, elucidating the fundamental principles and components that constitute an HVAC system.During the visit, students had the opportunity to observe and understand the intricate workings of the HVAC equipment installed at Oberon Mall.

They gained hands-on experience by examining the various components, such as chillers, air handling units, pumps, and cooling towers, which play crucial roles in maintaining optimal indoor air quality and thermal comfort.Mr. Jomin Joseph’s comprehensive explanation covered the operational aspects of the HVAC system, including the refrigeration cycle, air distribution mechanisms, and energy efficiency measures implemented in the design and operation of the system. He also highlighted the importance of regular maintenance and the adherence to industry standards and regulations to ensure the system’s longevity and optimal performance. The visit provided students with a valuable learning experience, bridging the gap between theoretical concepts taught in the classroom and their practical applications in real-world scenarios. It fostered a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in designing, installing, and maintaining HVAC systems, which are essential for creating comfortable and sustainable indoor environments.ISHRAE Kochi Chapter, through such industry collaborations and educational initiatives, aims to equip its student members with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the field of HVAC engineering, thereby contributing to the development of energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly building infrastructure.
