Department Laboratories

Augmented with a modern computer centre, the department offers the best and updated practical training. It is well equipped with 5 diversified laboratories installed with a variety of software catering to the needs of the students and covering the curriculum specified by the affiliated Kerala Technological University. All the computers in the campus, including those in the hostels and all departments, are connected by means of a network so that the students from the hostel and the staff and students from different departments can have direct access to the facilities in the Computer labs round the clock.

Our computer labs are highly functional, with all the state-of-the-art features on the tap. They are constructed to cater to the various needs of our students, like academic purposes, digital learning, and so on. The labs are provided with a continuous power supply which ensures unhindered working of machines. All these computing resources are inter-connected with a high-speed intranet having 300 Mbps internet connectivity to the outside world. The major labs include advanced Networking, Information Security, Network, Compiler Design, System Software & Operating Systems, Application Software Development, Data Structure, Microprocessor, Python, and C Programming.

PARAM SHAVAK

Department Lab is also facilitated with KTU PARAM SHAVAK Terminal Access. ParamShavak machine PARAM Shavak – solution, aims to provide a computational resource (Capacity building) with advanced technologies to perform high-end computations for scientific, engineering, and academic programs to address and catalyze the research using modeling, simulation, and data analysis. This initiative is expected to create HPC aware skilled workforce (Capability building) and for promoting research by integrating leading-edge emerging technologies at the grass root level.

Maintenance

  • Regular check-up of equipment is carried out at the end of every week.
  • The breakdown register is maintained in the laboratories.
  • As per the requirement, minor repairs are carried out by the lab in charge.
  • Maintenance of computers is taken care by System Administrator.
  • Major repairs are outsourced by the procedure of the institution.

Overall ambiance

  • The ambiance inside the lab is suitable for perfect learning for practical classes.
  • A sufficient number of computers is available in the laboratories with 300 Mbps high speed internet facility.
  • All laboratories are well furnished and have sufficient natural light, ventilation, and AC/fan arrangement.
  • Charts and experiment lists are displayed in every lab.
  • Laboratory manuals are prepared and are available in soft and hard copy.
  • Laboratories are kept open beyond office hours as per the need.



Telepresence Lab was set up to

  • Create a State-of-the-art Technology-enabled Learning platform that would enable remote delivery of high-quality skills and programs from the industry.
  • Deploy learning platform connecting 150 Hi-Techclassrooms in the Engineering colleges in the state.
  • Implementation of an effective eLearning solution with collaboration features to use in a distributed environment.
  • Deliver formal skill delivery programs through Minordegree, certification programs, expert lectures, etc. to enhance the learning opportunities and employability of students.

MODROB funded machine learning lab is specially designed for research in machine learning-related applications. The lab was set up using the MODROB fund sanctioned by AICTE.

The objective of this laboratory is to identify the innovative research directions in artificial intelligence and machine learning and to understand the current industrial requirements in terms of technical projects. The lab serves as a maker space for students and research members in the department.

The lab has been set up as an additional lab in addition to the labs listed in the curriculum. It’s a meetup space for IoT and Embedded enthusiasts. The students have the provision of borrowing embedded kits for project purposes.

Project Lab is utilized for Major and Design projects of B.Tech students. The students also utilize facilities at Machine Learning Lab and IOT lab for project purposes in addition to this lab.

The students take up major project in emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Blockchain, Cyber Security, Web and Mobile based applications having application in domains like Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Smart Cities, Intelligent Transportation, Smart Agriculture, Waste Management, Assistive technology for specially-abled, Smart Health, etc.
