Achievements on 2025 -2026

TEDxTIST

TEDxTIST 2026 was successfully conducted as an independently organized TEDx event under the theme “Clarity in Chaos” on March 18, 2026. The event aimed to explore how individuals navigate uncertainty, complexity, and change to discover purpose and meaning. Bringing together thinkers, creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs from diverse fields, TEDxTIST served as a platform for ideas that challenge perspectives and inspire action.  The event witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and invited guests, creating an engaging and intellectually stimulating atmosphere. The sessions were carefully curated to ensure that the audience remained attentive and involved throughout the program. The event followed a well-structured flow, enabling each speaker to present their ideas with clarity and impact. The TEDxTIST executive committee consists of 24 core team members. Sanjana Vijay as the Operations Lead, and Shruthika Baiju as the Visual Identity and Assets Lead (Design). Both are from S6 (2023 admission). Serah Tomy and Sumitha Shine from S4 (2024 Admission) are participated in the event.

µLearn (Mulearn)

µLearn (Mulearn) is a vibrant student-driven community focused on fostering peer-to-peer learning, collaboration, and innovation among young minds, especially in the field of technology. It provides a platform for students to explore diverse domains, build real-world skills, and engage in knowledge-sharing through structured learning paths, events, and projects. The community emphasizes a culture of curiosity, consistency, and contribution, helping members grow both technically and personally. Abhishek R, from 6th semester (2023 admission), is serving as the Co-Campus Lead of TIST, plays an active role in guiding and supporting students within the community, encouraging participation and helping peers make the most of the opportunities provided by µLearn.

  • World Automobile Day Celebration

World Automobile Day is celebrated annually on January 29 to commemorate the birth of the modern automobile. On this day in 1886, Karl Benz applied for the patent (DRP 37435) for his Benz Patent-Motorwagen, the first three-wheeled, gas-powered car. The day honors the innovation of personal mobility and the evolution of the automotive industry.

To mark this occasion, the Mechanical Engineering Department organized an event on February 13th at 1:00 PM in the ME Seminar Hall. The program featured an Auto Quiz followed by student seminars on Recent Trends in Automobile Technology.

A total of 12 teams from various branches participated in the Quiz competition. The team, Prince John and Geevarghese Sajan from S6 (2023 Admission) IT bagged the First Prize.

  • Alen J. Puthanangady, IT S2 received a Certificate of Participation in “Samagra 3.0,” conducted as part of Ashwamedha’26, the Technical Fest of Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kalady, on 5th February 2026

Sports Achievement:

Toc H Institute of Science & Technology (TIST) conducted sports day on 31st January. The following achievements were recorded:

  • Niranjana S. Kumar (S4, 2024 Admission) secured 1st position in 800 m and High Jump, and 2nd position in Shot Put, Discus Throw, Long Jump, and Javelin Throw.
  • Sheen Tharaken (S4, 2024 Admission) won 1st position in Javelin Throw, 2nd position in High Jump, and 3rd position in Shot Put.
Student Achievements
Achievement in Intercollegiate Kho-Kho Competition:

The TIST Kho-Kho Girls Team secured the First Runner-Up position in the Tournament held on 15 January 2026 at Ilahia College of Engineering. The achievement was made possible through the active participation and contribution of Neha Sunil, Niranjana S. Kumar (S4, IT), and Gowri V. J. (S2, IT).

Additionally, Basil Jose K. (S8, IT) participated in the Kho-Kho Boys Team event and was awarded a Participation Certificate.

Indian Patent Filed

Faculty members Prof. (Dr.) Rasmi P. S., Ajayakumar M. V., Sandhya C. P., and Kurien Thampy, along with students Adarsh Jiju David, Eldhose Babichen, Aswin Mammen, and Alan James Robert, have successfully filed an Indian patent titled “Autonomous Smart Parking System and Method for Its Implementation.” The invention proposes an intelligent parking solution designed to enhance parking efficiency, minimize manual intervention, and improve space utilization through smart automation.

IBM Leadership Event at Taj Vivanta

Prof.(Dr.) Rasmi P. S. from the Department of Information Technology, along with Dr. Sreela Sreedhar from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Mr. Varghese Scaria from Placement participated in a Leadership workshop “Redefining Leadership in the age of Emerging Technology” organized  by IBM in collaboration with Q2D under the PEARL Initiative, held on 31 January 2026.

ISTE Award 2026

Toc H Institute of Science and Technology received the Special Appreciation Award from the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), presented by Dr. K. Vijayakumar, Chairman, ISTE Kerala Section, at a ceremony held at Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram on January 2026.

The award recognises the institution’s active participation and contributions to ISTE initiatives.

The honour was received on behalf of the college by Prof. (Dr.) Rasmi P.S. (ISTE Faculty Advisor)- Dept of IT, Asst. Prof. Santhi N.M.- Dept of CSE, Serin (Student Chapter Chairman), and Sreelakshmi M.P. (Best Student Coordinator).

  • S6 (2023 Admission) students attended a five-day placement training program held from 1st to 6th December 2025.
  • S4 (2024 Admission) students participated in a three-day placement training program conducted from 3rd to 6th December 2025.

Out of 57 students, 9 have been placed at Infosys. The selected students are Adarsh Jiju David, Anjali Raju, Aparna P S, Anjana P, Amnah Yasir, Rachel P Jose, Basil Jose K, Nasih Rahman K A, and Ann Abraham. Warm congratulations to all of them on this remarkable achievement.

    The ISTE Student Chapter of Toc H Institute of Science & Technology (TIST) has been honoured with the Special Appreciation Award 2024–2025 by the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE). This prestigious recognition celebrates the chapter’s remarkable contribution in organizing high-quality technical activities, fostering innovation, and enriching the professional development of students across the institution. IIC Regional Meet 2025 – Kochi
  • Asst Prof Nifasath (Member Toc H IIC & guide of the students selected for APF )from the Department of IT attended the IIC Regional Meet held at Rajagiri College of Engineering and Technology, Kochi, on November 28, 2025.Two student teams led by Nasih Rahman KA (S7) and Sidharth Manoj Menon (S2), who were shortlisted for the AICTE Productization Fellowships, presented their prototypes at the IIC Meet. Both teams delivered their presentations successfully and are now awaiting the results.
  • Ms. Neomi Nelin Nicholas and Ms. Priya Saira Mathews, Assistant Professors from the Information Technology Department at Toc H Institute of Science & Technology (TIST), served as the Resource Persons for the Hack4Future – 3rd Edition Hackathon. The event was organized by Saraswathi Vidyanikethan Public School, Elamakkara, Kochi, on November 18, 2025.

  • Mr. Alen Puthanangady from S3 and Mr. Melbin Gerorge from S5 participated in the Hands-On Ubuntu Installation Workshop conducted by ICFOSS (International Centre for Free and Open Source Solutions)at Toc H Institute of Science & Technology on September 19, 2025. The workshop covered the basics of Linux installation and introduced participants to Free and Open Source Software. The participants successfully received a certificate of participation, indicating their engagement with the workshop’s activities.
WAR ROOm’25–Startup Simulation Program(IEDC TIST under Kerala Startup Mission)

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDCTIST), under Kerala Startup Mission, organized WARROOM’25 on 9th August 2025,a full-day entrepreneurial simulation program aimed at helping budding entrepreneurs brainstorm, ideate, and pitch innovative solutions while tackling on-the-spot crisis scenarios. Ms. Ruth Serah from S3, the Campus Lead, actively participated as a volunteer, contributing to the smooth coordination and success of the program. The event provided hands-on startup simulation experience, encouraged teamwork and leadership, developed pitching and ideation skills, and inspired entrepreneurial thinking. Key highlights included crisis simulation challenges with real- time problem-solving, interactive brainstorming and pitching sessions, smooth coordination by student leads, and the awarding of Certificates of Achievement to recognize contributions.

  • Sidharth Manoj Menon, Rachel Ann Mathew, and Ruth Serah Monifrom S2 have been shortlisted as finalists in Spark Venture 2.0 for their innovative project titled “WattWave.” The team is currently awaiting the final results.

We are proud to announce that Rachel Anna Ajith and Draupathi S Krishna, students of the Department of Information Technology, Class of 2025, have successfully completed an 8-week internship at Simplogics Solutions Pvt Ltd, Technopark, Trivandrum. Ms. Ruth Serah Moni and Ms. Shaly Princess, from the S2 IT, have been elected to key positions within the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Center (IEDC).

Ms. Ruth Serah Moni will serve as the Junior Campus Lead, while Ms. Shaly Princess will take on the role of Junior Creative Lead.

The IEDC is a prestigious initiative under the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), aimed at igniting the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among students and academic communities across Kerala. This platform nurtures young minds, encouraging them to think creatively, take risks, and build sustainable solutions that can blossom into full-fledged startups

Achievement in ArtsMUDRA ’25

The MUDRA 2025 cultural fest was held at Toc H Institute of Science and Technology on 21stMarch 2025, showcasing an array of artistic and literary events. The event featured diverse competitions, including cultural dances, folk and western singing, instrumental performances, solo singing, Just A Minute (JAM), Turncoat debate, mime, and recitation. It provided a platform for students to display their creativity and competitive spirit.

The MUDRA 2025 cultural festival was a grand platform for students to showcase their talents in music, dance, literature, and performing arts. The event celebrated creativity and teamwork, bringing together students with a shared passion for the arts. The S2, S4, S6, and S8 class delivered remarkable performances, earning prestigious awards in multiple categories. Their dedication and enthusiasm contributed significantly to the event’s success.

Winners – IEDC TIST IDEATHON

A team from S2 IT, comprising Ms. Ruth Serah, Ms. Rachel Ann Mathew, Mr. Sidharth Manoj, and Ms. Shaly Princess, emerged as the winners of the Ideathon organized by TIST IEDC on the theme “Reinventing Existing Inventions” held on January 29, 2025, at Tagore Hall. Their outstanding achievement was recognized with a cash prize.

Hackathon:  Tink Her Hack

MsAmnah Yasir and Ms Anjana P of S6 participated in overnight hackathon from 24-25 January at Ramanujan hall, Toc H Institute of Science and Technology-Tink Her Hack Overnight Hackathon, conducted by Women in Tech OfTinkerHub Community. It was an opportunity to build a website and to network and develop skill and growth.

Ms. Rachel P Jose, and Mr. Madhav Manoj (S6 Students) attended a workshop at SCMS School of Engineering and Technology Karukutty on 24th January 2025. It was an introduction to Cyber Security and Ethical Hacking consisting of basics and some real life applications like avoiding programming flows that leads to security threats, real time Ethical Hacking with some popular techniques like DoS attack and how to protect from those.

3 days FDP on IT workshop (GXESL208) KTU 2024 scheme:

Faculty members, Ms. Santhi N M and Ms. Benila Anoop, from the Department of Information Technology actively participated in the 3-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on IT Workshop (GXESL208) – KTU 2024 Scheme, which was held online from January 9th to 11th, 2025, at St. Thomas Institute for Science & Technology. It was designed to enhance faculty members’ knowledge and skills in the latest advancements in Information Technology (IT) under the 2024 academic scheme. The program featured expert lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on sessions.

Faculty Achievement:

Asst. Prof. Ms. Neomi Nelin Nicholaswas nominated to the Judge Panelof Kerala’s first Hackathon for school children: “Hack4 future” on 14th November 2024, conducted at Saraswathy Vidhyanikethan Public School, Elamakkara. This prestigious event aims to inspire young minds to innovate and create solutions for a better future. Ms. Neomi, with her extensive experience in Computer Science and her passion for fostering innovation, played a crucial role in evaluating the creative projects presented by the students. Her involvement highlights the importance of mentorship and guidance in nurturing the next generation of tech enthusiasts and problem solvers. The hackathon is a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their talents and contribute to the development of future innovators.

UBA Training Program “WASH for All: Strengthening Social Outreach through Water, Sanitation and Hygiene initiatives” on November 7th and 8th at Alappuzha.

The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) training program titled “WASH for All: Strengthening Social Outreach through Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Initiatives” was conducted on November 7th and 8th, 2024, in Alappuzha. The two-day event aimed to empower UBA coordinators, village  representatives, and local stakeholders to promote sustainable WASH practices in rural communities. Student Achievement:

The men’s chess team from Toc H Institute of Science and Technology (TIST) has achieved an impressive victory by winning the Championship in the D-Zone KTU Inter-Collegiate Chess Tournament. The tournament was held at M.A. College, Kothamangalam, and brought together some of the most talented college chess teams in the region, making this a prestigious win for TIST. One of the key contributors to the team’s success was Mr. Amal Johnson, a first-year student from the Department of IT.

The Department of Information Technology is proud to present the successful publication of an Indian patent for a groundbreaking invention: An autonomous system for managing water hyacinths. This innovative solution leverages advanced technologies like computer vision, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things to tackle a critical environmental challenge. Developed by our dedicated students and faculty, this achievement showcases our department’s commitment to using technology for a positive impact. It also highlights the remarkable talent and collaborative spirit within our community.

Participation in NavakeralaSadass’s

In continuation of NavakeralaSadass’s initiative to engage with high-achieving students in Kerala’s higher education sector, Elizabeth Sunny (Information Technology), JeevanGrigory Joseph (Mechanical Engineering), and Afif Sharif (Computer Science Engineering) from Toc H Institute of Science and Technology were selected to participate in the current program. During the program, they had the opportunity to interact with and receive accolades from the Chief Minister.
