Association & Activities
ignIT – The IT Students’ Association
The IT department student association ignIT takes the initiative in organizing technical talks, workshops, conferences, and inter-collegiate technical fests regularly to improve and update technical and managerial skills. A newsletter is put up every year to provide a platform to showcase the talents and achievements of the students and provide the students with a quick overview of cutting-edge technologies in computers and communication.
Some of the activities organized under the association include Android Training, .Net Training, Jquery Training, Personality Development Program, Java Training, Python Programming, Linux Administration Training, Campus Connect, etc…

Prize Distribution for Ideathon Winners
The Ideathon was an engaging online innovation event held on 26th February under the theme “AI & Emerging Technology for a Smarter Tomorrow,” bringing together creative minds to present and discuss impactful ideas. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from four dynamic teams—F.A.R.M, HerAfter, Innovatrix, and TechLeaf—each showcasing unique and innovative solutions.
The presentations were evaluated by Ajeesh G. Krishnan and Asst. Prof. Nifasath Piyar, who offered valuable feedback and insights to all participants.
Based on the final evaluation, Team HerAfter secured the First Prize, while Team Innovatrix was awarded the Second Prize for their outstanding ideas and presentations.
The Ideathon successfully fostered innovation, collaboration, and critical thinking, making it a memorable and inspiring online event. The prize distribution ceremony was held in March 03, 2026.

Techizer 2026
The Department of Information Technology successfully organized the National-Level Tech Fest, Techizer 2026, in collaboration with ISTE on 27th February 2026. The event was formally inaugurated by Principal Dr. Preethi Thekkath. The fest witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments and TIST, who showcased their talents through a wide range of techno-cultural activities.

The Project Expo was conducted in the Final Year classroom, while the other events were held in the IT Lab. These events showcased the technical expertise, creativity, and innovative capabilities of the participating students.
Techizer 2026 served as a vibrant platform for students to exhibit their skills, foster healthy competition, and promote a spirit of collaboration and camaraderie among participants.
Scavenger Hunt
Techizer 2026 featured an interactive Coding Scavenger Hunt conducted in the IT Lab, integrating Python-based problem-solving with physical clue tracking. Participants advanced through multiple levels by solving coding challenges that unlocked clues hidden across various locations, creating a dynamic, fast-paced, and engaging experience.
A total of 18 students participated in the event. Athira Raju from S6 (2023 Admission) secured the First Prize, while Sidharth Manoj Menon from S4 (2024 Admission) won the Second Prize. The event was successfully executed, effectively showcasing the students’ logical reasoning, coding proficiency, and problem-solving abilities under time constraints
Nitro Type
The Nitro Typing event was an exciting speed-based competition conducted on 27th February 2026 at the Visvesvaraya Block, IT Lab as part of Techizer 2026. The event was designed to test participants’ speed and accuracy by typing quickly. The competition was conducted individually, and participants were given 3 minutes of typing within the given time limit.
The event was evaluated by Mr Kurien Thampy who ensured fair judgment based on the words per minute(wpm) and accuracy
In the final results, Livin Justin from IT S6, secured the First Prize of ₹500 for achieving the highest score.
We successfully encouraged students with logical reasoning, quick thinking, and competitive spirit among students, making it an engaging and intellectually stimulating experience for all participants.
Website Designing Using AI
Website Designing using AI, drawing an enthusiastic response with 25 registrations. The event challenged students to leverage cutting-edge AI tools to create innovative and functional web interfaces. The competition was judged by Asst. Prof. Keerthi Sabu from the Civil Engineering Department and Asst. Prof. Priya Saira Mathews from the IT Department. Justin Jaiji (IT, S2) secured the first position, followed by Senthil R. Menon (CS) in second place. This event successfully highlighted the growing synergy between artificial intelligence and modern web development within the student community.
Password Cracking:
The Password Cracking event was an exciting logic-based competition conducted on 27th February 2026 at the Visvesvaraya Block, IT Lab as part of Techizer 2026. The event was designed to test participants’ analytical thinking, pattern recognition, and problem-solving abilities through a series of logical password puzzles and deduction challenges. The competition was conducted individually, and participants were given 30 minutes to crack as many passwords as possible within the given time limit.
The event was evaluated by Mr Godly C Mathew, who ensured fair judgment based on the number of passwords cracked and the speed of completion.
In the final results, Johann Puthoor from the IT Department secured the First Prize of ₹500 for achieving the highest score. Zechariah Sabu, also from the IT Department, secured the Runner-up position with a prize of ₹200.
The Password Cracking event successfully encouraged logical reasoning, quick thinking, and competitive spirit among students, making it an engaging and intellectually stimulating experience for all participants.
Project Expo
The Project Expo was an innovative and knowledge-driven event conducted on 27th February 2026 at the Visvesvaraya Block, S8 classroom as part of Techizer 2026. The event was organized to provide students with a platform to showcase their technical skills, creativity, and practical knowledge through diverse project presentations. Participants presented projects across various domains, demonstrating real-world applications, problem-solving approaches, and technological advancements.
The competition was conducted in teams, where participants explained their project concepts, working models, implementation strategies, and outcomes to the judging panel. Each team was allotted specific time to present their project followed by a question-and-answer session to evaluate their depth of understanding and innovation.
The event was evaluated by Mrs. Smitha Mohan, who ensured fair and unbiased judgment based on criteria such as originality, technical complexity, presentation skills, practical implementation, and overall impact of the project.
In the final results, Sreehari, Sreelakshmi PG, Kurias Tenson, Evelyn Reni Brigit from ECE S4 secured the First Prize of ₹1500 for outstanding innovation and execution, while Athira Raju, Archa Vinoji, Aswin Biji, from IT S6, as the runner-up secured the Second Prize of ₹500 for commendable performance and presentation.
The Project Expo successfully encouraged innovation, teamwork, technical excellence, and confidence among students, making it an enriching and inspiring experience for all participants
IgnIT 2026:
The highlight of the event was the Technical Talk delivered by Mr. Anilkumar K.G., Cybersecurity Researcher, Department of Computer Science, University of Kerala, on 26 February 2026.
The event was further graced by the presence of the Toc H Management, the Principal, Vice Principal, IEDC Officer, and the Heads of Departments (HODs), highlighting the institution’s strong support and recognition of the initiatives undertaken by the IT Department.
Ideathon:
The Ideathon was an engaging online innovation event held on 26th February under the theme AI & Emerging Technology for Smarter Tomorrow, bringing together creative minds to present and discuss impactful ideas. Industrial Visit to NCPOR, Goa:
As part of industry visitfrom September 25 to 30, 2025, the S5 IT students visited the National Center for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), Goa. The industrial visit was organized to provide the students with valuable exposure to the industrial and research environment. The program enabled them to gain practical insights into the functioning of a premier technology-driven research organization and to understand the applications of advanced technologies in ocean and polar studies.

Alumni meet of 2020-’24 Batch
The Department of Information Technology at TocH Institute of Science and Technology recently hosted a warm Alumni Meet IT 2020-24 Batch, on May 3rd, 2025, welcoming alumni from the department. The event brought together former students from various batches, providing a platform for them to reconnect, share experiences, and reminisce about their time at the institute.
The Alumni Meet was a vibrant celebration of the department’s legacy, with alumni sharing their insights, experiences, and industry perspectives. The event strengthened the bond between the department and its alumni, fostering a sense of community and shared identity.
The Department of Information Technology’s initiative to organize the Alumni Meet demonstrates its commitment to building a strong and supportive alumni network. The event provided opportunities for alumni to give back to their alma mater, through mentorship, internships, or other forms of support, ultimately benefiting current students and the department as a whole.

On 28th March 2025, we bid a heartfelt farewell to the IT students of 2021-2025. Their journey with us has been marked by growth, learning, and memorable experiences. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors
Project Expo: INNVOIT.
The Department of Information Technology organized Project Expo InnovIT, an exciting event where our third year students showcased their innovative projects to an audience of 12th-grade students from Toch Public School, Vytilla, on March 28, 2025. The event aimed to provide a platform for college students to share their technical expertise and innovative ideas with school students, inspiring and motivating them to pursue careers in technology and innovation.
Industrial Visit to Aptiv, Arakunnam:
On March 19th, 2025, S4 IT students visited the Aptiv, Arakunnam. The purpose of the visit was to give students insight into the industrial environment and familiarize them with the operations of a leading technology solution provider.The purpose of the visit was to give students exposure to real-world applications of technology in the industry, focusing on software development, automation, data analytics, and cloud computing.
Techizer’25:
The Department of Information Technology successfully organized the National Level Tech Fest, Techizer 2025, in collaboration with the ISTE on March01st, 2025. The event was formally inaugurated by Principal Dr. Preethi Thekkath. Students showcased their talents through a range of Techno-Cultural fest activities, eliciting participants from inter-departments and TIST.
Technical Events: E sports, Cine quiz, Ideathon, Scavenger hunt, Project expo, showcasing the prowess and knowledge of participating students.
Non-Technical Events: Alongside technical competitions, a range of non-technical events added color to the fest. Reels competition.

Ideathon 2025
The Department of Information Technology, TIST, in collaboration with IIC and our proud sponsor, Comptivia Technologies, successfully conducted Ideathon 2025 on February 27, 2025. The event, themed “Tech 4 Kerala: Solving Today’s Problems, Building Tomorrow’s Future,” brought together young, innovative minds to develop technology-driven solutions for Kerala’s progress, as part of our National Level Techfest – Techizer 2025.
Exclusively designed for school students, the Ideathon provided a dynamic platform for participants to showcase their creativity and problem-solving skills. The event aimed to nurture innovation among the younger generation, encouraging them to think critically and propose impactful solutions.

Alumni Meet
The CUSAT Alumni Meet, aptly titled “Smrithipathangal” (meaning “Memories”), was a momentous occasion that brought together the alumni of the Department of Information Technology from various CUSAT batches at TIST. Organized by the TIST Alumni Association, the event took place on December 30, 2024, at 5 pm on the TIST campus.
This reunion was a wonderful opportunity for the alumni to reconnect with their former classmates, mentors, and colleagues, rekindling old friendships and memories. The evening was filled with nostalgia, laughter, and warmth as the alumni shared stories of their journeys, accomplishments, and experiences since graduating from CUSAT.
The event provided a platform for the alumni to network, exchange ideas, and explore potential collaborations. It also served as a testament to the strong bonds and sense of community that exist among the CUSAT alumni.
The TIST Alumni Association deserves accolades for organizing this memorable event, which will undoubtedly be etched in the hearts of the attendees for years to come.
Christmas Celebration on 20.12.2024
The IT Department celebrated Christmas on 20 December with great enthusiasm and joy, spreading the festive spirit among faculty and students. A special gift exchange activity added excitement to the celebration.
IGNIT 2025
The highlight of the event was the Technical Talk delivered by Mr. Anish Alias, the General Manager of Technical Services at Experion Technologies. His talk, titled “From Vision to Reality: Digital Product Engineering Excellence,” was aimed at helping attendees enhance their technical skills, align with the evolving technological landscape, and improve career prospects. The theme of bridging vision and reality through digital product engineering would certainly have sparked interest in both students and faculty, offering valuable insights into the intersection of technology and innovation.
It was also an honor to have Toc H Management, the Principal, Vice Principal, IEDC Officer, and Heads of Departments (HODs) present at the event, further emphasizing the support and recognition for the IT Department’s initiatives.

On October05th, 2024, S5 IT students visited the MNC Techno Solutions,at Goa. On September 28th, 2024, S3 IT students visited the 2 MW generating station at Mattuppetty SHEP, part of the Meencut Generation Circle in Munnar, Idukki. This experience provided them with valuable real-world insights that enriched their academic knowledge
Hydro-Innovate: A Successful Hackathon for Clean Water Solutions
The Department of Information Technology, in partnership with the Directorate of Technical Education-Udyama 1.0, hosted a successful hackathon on September 23rd, 2024. The event aimed to foster innovative solutions for clean water and sanitation.
A team from Sree Saraswathy Vidya Mandir, Karikode, consisting of Master Navneethu Kumar,Ms.Thrithiksha Nair and Master. B.Devadath and another team form TIST’s Computer Science department, comprising Ms. Malavika Narayanan, Ms. Rini Sara Markose, and Mr. Akhil P.S, emerged as the winners.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our esteemed judges, Prof. Dr. Gnana Sheela (Safety Departmentand also TIST Udyama Coordinator) and Dr. Ashmi M (Electrical and Computer Engineering), for their valuable insights and contributions.
The TIST Udyama Coordinator, Dr. Resmi R (Head of Department, Mathematics), and the Head of Department of Information Technology, Dr. Rasmi P.S., provided invaluable support to the event.

On August 9, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was held between the Information Technology Department and Elkanio Research Labs. This partnership aims to foster collaboration and advance research and development initiatives within the field of information technology
Yoga Day
On June 27, 2024, our institution celebrated International Yoga Day with a special training session titled “Unite, Breathe, Transform.” Led by resource person BenilaAnoop, Lab Instructor IT, the event brought together a group of participants to explore the holistic benefits of yoga. Participants engaged in various practices that emphasized unity, mindful breathing, and personal transformation.

The Department of Information Technology successfully organized the National Level Tech Fest, Techizer 2024, in collaboration with the ISTE on February 27th, 2024. The event was formally inaugurated by Principal Dr. Preethi Thekkath. Students showcased their talents through a range of Techno-Cultural fest activities, eliciting participants from inter-departments and TIST.
Technical Events: Various engaging technical events were organized including Scavenger Hunt, NiroType competition, and ITUIZ (The Tech Trivia), showcasing the prowess and knowledge of participating students.
Non-Technical Events: Alongside technical competitions, a range of non-technical events added color to the fest. Participants displayed their talents in a Singing Contest, Arm Wrestling and engaged in intellectual discourse during the Debate competition.

IGNIT 2024
The Department of Information Technology association, IGNIT Activities, held its inauguration ceremony on February 26, 2024. The Chief Guest, Mr. Praveen Ramachandran, CRO of Brainwired Drakon Innovations Pvt Ltd, and the Guest of Honor, Mr. Riswin Azeez, Regional Head of Middle East at PIT Solutions and Software Application Engineer (Consultant) for the Government of Sharjah, graced the event. Mr. Praseed Sreepadmakumar,S8 IT, Chairperson of IGNIT, delivered the welcome address, while various management representatives attended and offered their felicitations. The Vote of Thanks was given by Ms. Parvathi S, S8 IT,Vice Chairperson of IGNIT.
The event was marked by the recognition of academic excellence, where prizes were awarded to the top performers of the graduate batch 2019-23, as well as to the highest scorers in each semester. Among the distinguished honorees, Ms. Devika J Nair stood out for her remarkable achievement, having secured the 5th rank in the KTU examinations. Her exceptional performance exemplifies the dedication and commitment to academic excellence within the department. Additionally, Ms. Priyanka was also lauded for her consistent excellence, emerging as the top scorer in her respective semester.Mr. Blesson Reji Varghese, an S8 IT was awarded First prize in the Poster Making Competition themed “Coding the Future: Reimagine the World with IT.” The competition was jointly organized by the Department of Information Technology and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), in collaboration with National Youth Day.

In today’s tech design Platform, Calling all young innovators to unleash their creativity and make their mark on the future! In Jan 2024, on behalf of National Youth Day, we invited young techies to capture brilliant ideas, and to design a poster that creates the essence of innovation on the topic “CODING THE FUTURE: REIMAGINE THE WORLD WITH IT“. It shows us how we envision shaping a better tomorrow. Students are asked to put their artistic skills to the test and win exciting prizes! To showcase talent and be a part of something groundbreaking is the motto behind this activity.

Department Organized the National Level Tech fest-Techizer 2023 in association with ISTE on April 18th 2023, which was formally inaugurated by our Vice Principal Dr. Deepa Elizabeth George (HOD-Electronics & Communication Engineering) followed by various Techno- Cultural fest conducted by IT students with participants from Inter-departments, TIST.
ignIT Inauguration
The department organized an inaugural ceremony for the IT association (ignIT) activities on 28th November 2022 which was inaugurated by Dr. Panchami V, Department of Cyber Security (Head), IIIT Kottayam. The plenary speaker was Ms. Mahima Mary Mathews, Ph.D. Research Scholar, IIIT Kottayam, the topic was “Quantum Technologies and Cyber Security: Impacts and Solutions“. Following the renewed Toc H website and IT, the logo launch was done.
