Handover Ceremony of EZ CRUIZE

The handover ceremony of the student-designed electric buggy, EZ CRUIZE, to Graceland Foundation was a resounding success. The event was graced by the presence of distinguished dignitaries who lauded the achievements of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Dr. Rajesh Kocheril welcomed the gathering, setting the tone for the event. Er. C. S. Varghese, President of Toc H Public School Society, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. Er. Kurian Thomas, Manager of Toc H Public School Society, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the significance of the project in the context of higher education and societal impact.

 

Mr. Madhu Cherian, Secretary of TIST, Mr. Paulson M J, President of Graceland Foundation, and Dr. Preethi Thekkath, Principal offered their felicitations to the Department of Mechanical Engineering for the successful completion of the project.

A highlight of the event was the presentation by Mr. Jeevan Gregory Joseph, a student member of the EZ CRUIZE project team. He eloquently shared the team’s journey, challenges, and triumphs, offering valuable insights into the project.

The ceremony culminated in the formal handover of the documents and keys of EZ CRUIZE to Mr. Paulson M J by Er. Kurian Thomas. This marked the beginning of a new chapter for the electric buggy as it embarks on its mission with Graceland Foundation.

The event was a testament to the efforts of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and showcased the potential of young engineers to drive positive change.

Department of Mechanical Engineering Secures KTU-CERD Funding

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is thrilled to announce their successful KTU-CERD grant of Rs. 41,220/- groundbreaking research project titled “Waste Oil Derived Greases: A Comparative Tribological Investigation.”

This prestigious recognition is a testament to the exceptional research capabilities and dedication of our faculty members. The project, led by Asst. Prof. Prasanth M A, and involving Kedhar Nath M, Alwin George Joseph, Ujwal Krishna J, and Alan George K J, aims to explore the potential of waste oil as a sustainable alternative for grease production.

This research aligns with our institute’s commitment to environmental sustainability and technological innovation. We believe this project will make significant contributions to the field of tribology and promote sustainable practices in the industry.

FACULTY ACHIEVEMENTS

NACTET (National Council for Technology and Training), awarded Prof. Shajan K Thomas (Department of Mechanical Engineering, Toc H Institute of Science and Technology Arakunnam, Ernakulam) with a memento for winning the best “Mech Prize Scholarship Coordinator Zone 2” over more than 100 Engineering and polytechnic colleges from the state of Kerala. Mech Prize Scholarship program is conducted every year for the final year engineering students from mechanical and civil engineering departments all over Kerala. The award was presented by our Honourable minister Mrs Chinchu Rani (Minister for Animal husbandry, Dairy Development, Govt of Kerala) during the winners meet event held on 14/07/2022 at Trivandrum.
