Talk on “Machine Learning for Dark Web and Social Media Crime Analysis”
Hosted by the Department of Computer Applications, Swamy Saswathikananda College, Poothotta (affiliated to MG University, approved by Govt. of Kerala & AICTE), an Alumni Talk under the theme “Inspire • Connect • Excel” was held on Monday, 27th July 2026, at 10:30 AM in the Seminar Hall.Under the esteemed guidance of Principal Prof. K S Ullas and Head of the Department Ms. Divya R, the session was honored by distinguished alumna Dr. Rasmi P S (Professor & Head, Dept of IT, Toc H Institute of Science & Technology; MSc IT 2002-2004 Batch). She gracefully delivered an insightful session on the core topic “Machine Learning for Dark Web and Social Media Crime Analysis”. Dr. Rasmi P S, Professor & Head of the Department of IT at Toc H Institute of Science & Technology, served as a distinguished resource person and alumna.
Yoga Session for Women Organized by Piravom Merchant Association
A yoga session for women was started by the Piravom Merchant Association on July 4, 2026, with the objective of promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and a healthy lifestyle among women in the community.
The programme was organized by the Piravom Merchant Association and was formally inaugurated by the Association President, Mr. Albin Pavodath. Ms. Benila Anoop, Department of Information Technology, Toc H Institute of Science & Technology, served as the Resource Person for the session and guided the participants through yoga practices and exercises.
The initiative aims to encourage women to incorporate yoga into their daily lives and create awareness about the importance of physical and mental well-being.
International Yoga Day Celebration
In June 2026, Ms. Benila Anoop served as a Yoga Instructor for the International Yoga Day celebrations held at Tagore Hall, Thirumarady. This outreach programme was organized through the joint efforts of the Thirumarady Grama Panchayat, the Government Ayurveda Hospital in Mannathoor, and the Government Homoeo Dispensary in Kakkur. Held on June 25, 2026, the event focused on the theme “Yoga for Healthy Aging” to promote public health awareness. Ms. Benila Anoop conducted a yoga demonstration and an informative awareness session for the local community and public representatives

International Yoga Day Celebration
Mrs. Benila Anoop was invited as the guest for the International Yoga Day celebrations held on June 23, 2025, at Government Higher Secondary School, Chottanikara. The event was organized to promote the importance of yoga in daily life and to encourage a healthy lifestyle among students and staff.
2024 – 2025
Digital Literacy
The Department of Information Technology embarked on a commendable social outreach initiative, organizing a comprehensive program on “Digital Literacy” in collaboration with the NSS unit of KPM Higher Secondary School. This noble endeavor was part of the NSS camp, which aimed to bridge the digital divide and empower individuals with essential digital skills.
The highlight of the program was a thought-provoking talk on “Digital Literacy” delivered by Prof. Dr. Rasmi P S on December 22nd, 2024. Dr. Rasmi’s insightful presentation shed light on the significance of digital literacy in today’s technology-driven world. The session covered various aspects of digital literacy, including online safety, effective use of digital tools, and the importance of critical thinking in the digital age.
Through this initiative, the Department of Information Technology demonstrated its commitment to giving back to the community and promoting digital inclusivity. The program was well-received by the participants, who gained valuable knowledge and insights to navigate the digital landscape effectively.
Learning the latest in R programming at The Next Wave:
The Department of Information Technology hosted a successful hands-on workshop on “Unlock Insights with R Programming” on December 13th 2024 at Bhavan’s Newsprint Vidyalaya, Velloor. Led by Asst. Prof. Neomi Nelin Nicholas and Asst. Prof. Priya Saira Mathews from the TIST Information Technology Department, the workshop provided valuable insights into the world of R programming.
Student coordinators Titus Alex, Saatvik Oommen Jacob, Rosmal Siby, and Elizabeth Sunny actively contributed to the workshop’s success by conducting engaging AI/ML sessions and facilitating interactive R programming lab sessions with quizzes and other activities.

Integration of AI with New Era Technologies
The Department of Information Technology organized a training session as part of the social outreach program on the topic ” Integration of AI with New Era Technologies ” at Sree Saraswathy Vidhya Mandir School on 26/5/2023.
The students were very keen on learning about the modern technology revolution and its applications, which include Artificial intelligence, Robotics, Blockchain and so on, discussed in the session
