The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of Toc H Institute of Science and Technology (TIST) proudly inaugurated its Coding Club, GENERICX, on 9th January 2026 at 3:00 PM in Tagore Hall.
GENERICX is a student-driven coding club formed with the vision of fostering innovation, collaboration, and a strong coding culture among students. The club brings together enthusiastic minds working under different roles but united by a single vision—to learn, build, and grow together through technology. As part of its initiative, GENERICX will conduct regular technical programs every Friday, aimed at enhancing practical skills and industry readiness.
GENERICX conducted a session titled “Introduction to Vibe Coding” exclusively for S2 ELE/EEE students on 16th January 2026, from 1:20 PM to 2:00 PM. The session introduced students to the fundamentals of coding culture, modern development practices, and the concept of vibe coding, creating awareness and enthusiasm among first-year students.
GenHack 1.0 – 16 Hour Hackathon was conducted by ELE, as the first initiative hackathon under the GENERICX CODING CLUB on 9–10 January 2026 at Ramanujan Hall, with active participation from approximately 105 students forming 20 teams. The event, guided by Mr. Tom K Mangattu and Mr. Amal G Joseph, Software Developers from ZOHO, provided an industry-oriented platform for students to collaboratively design and develop innovative, real-world solutions. The hackathon promoted outcome-based education by enabling students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical problem-solving scenarios while enhancing technical competence, teamwork, critical thinking, and innovation. The program emphasized student-centric and experiential learning and significantly contributed to institutional quality initiatives by fostering creativity, collaboration, and industry-relevant skills.
