About the Department
One of the first Departments at TIST, the Electronics and Communication Engineering wing was established in the year 2002. Since its inception to this day, the Department has stood firm in its objective to impart quality education and training at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in various areas of Electronics & Communication Engineering.
The M.Tech program in the field of VLSI and embedded systems was appended to the department in the year 2009.The College now offers M. Tech in Electronics with specialization in Wireless Technology as well.
The branch is powered by Industry experienced faculty in the areas of VLSI, DSP, Mobile & Wireless Communication, Data Communication & Microwave Electronics, who brings the right blend of academic and research expertise and industrial experience from national and international organizations like DRDO, AT&T, BAARC etc. Laboratory facilities are far above the requirements of the university syllabus and are designed to provide an environment, catering to the requirements of individual students. Equipped for research in emerging technologies, the labs are: Analog Electronics, Microprocessor, VLSI Design with Cadence full design suite, Microwave Engineering, Digital Communication, Laser & Optical Communication, Digital Signal Processing, Toc H Agilent Advanced Communication Lab & Systems Engineering Lab. The lab facilities are upgraded from time to time, to provide adequate opportunities for students to learn and innovate. The alumni have good experiences to share since they are placed in reputed organizations like Texas Instruments, Wipro (VLSI), Tata Elxsi, CTS, Nokia, Idea, Infosys and Sasken etc. A fairly good number of students are pursuing post-graduate programs in reputed institutions like IIT, SP JIMR as well as several universities abroad.
