About the Department
The Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department of TIST was established in the year 2004. The department offers one undergraduate program (B.Tech.) and one post graduate program (M.Tech program in Power Electronics) The M.Tech program was added to the Department in the year 2012.
The department has highly dedicated and qualified faculty who impart individual attention to the students, prompting them to rise above ordinary levels to face the competitive world. Apart from the various software industries like Infosys, TCS and UST Global, EEE student Alumni are also well placed in electrical core industries like Cochin Shipyard, Polycab, KMML, Bosch, etc, as well as in various core industries abroad. Our alumni are also working as faculty in various government aided/self financing engineering colleges. Also, a fairly good number of our students had joined for post graduate programmes, both in India and abroad. Some of our students are entrepreneurs too. The Electrical maintenance wing of the college is under the EEE department enabling the students to gain practical exposure from the department itself. Also the various industrial visits, industry internships, attending industrial exhibitions and talks by experts from the industry have helped the students to keep abreast with the latest developments in the industry.
Apart from the various labs as prescribed by the university, a project lab and Energy Efficiency and Evaluation lab is also set up in the department to aid the students in undertaking their own independent research work. An additional L& T Switchgear lab is also set up in the department.
An Academic Advisory Committee consisting of academicians and external experts from industry guides the Department in the continual improvement of the academic and non-academic matters. Apart from academics, the Department constantly strives to inculcate an awareness and understanding of moral, ethical and professional obligations among the youngsters to mould them as valuable engineers both for the industry as well as for the society.
