Mentoring is described by the department as “a developmental, helping relationship in which a teacher invests time, expertise, and effort to increase and improve students’ growth, knowledge and skills.”
Since 2014-15, students have been divided into groups of 15, with each group assigned one mentor faculty member. Individual mentor forms are maintained for every student, documenting session details.
Mentors ideally conduct three meetings per semester: two weeks after the semester commences, following the first internal assessment, and after the model examinations. Consolidated mentor forms are transferred to the Psychology department each semester for professional counselling, remedial interventions, continued monitoring and analytical review.
Students facing academic difficulties receive targeted guidance from mentors in consultation with the department heads. Those with emotional, family or learning challenges are referred to the Psychology department for specialized assistance.
