From its inception in the year 2006, Mechanical Engineering department has always been rated high among other engineering colleges under Cochin university of Science & Technology (CUSAT) and under APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU). Department has been performing consistently with its elite club of faculty and well equipped laboratories. New high end machines and sophisticated equipments highlight the department quest for success. It is keen in producing high quality engineers and in maintaining the success mantra.
The department is spreading its wing to make the students employment ready. Numerous initiatives has already been carried out towards this. The department has signed MoU with Air-conditioning giant Daikin Air-conditioning India Pvt. Ltd. (DAIPL), Kerala Industrial and Technical Consultancy Organization, (KITCO), TIME, CAD Center. The objective behind these MoU’s is to provide a forum for students to get exposed to the industry environment. Our department is now recognized as a centre of excellence for HVAC training with strong association with Daikin & KITCO.
The department also has started professional chapters of Indian Institution of Production Engineers (IIPE), Indian Institute of Welding (IIW), Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE), Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Institution of Engineers, India (IEI).
Our students are well placed in core companies like Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), Polycab, Indian Navy, Anglo-Eastern, KAMCO, Omnex, Cummins, L&T, Bosch, Panama Shipping, Great Eastern, Isuzu, Keltron, OEN FCI Connectors etc.
We have also associated with some Indian and foreign universities like Kumamoto University, Japan, Moratuwa University, Srilanka, NIT Suratkal for organizing international conferences. We are working towards establishing MoU with foreign universities to enable students exchange programs.

B Tech (Mechanical Engineering)
Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest and broadest of the engineering disciplines that involve the design, production, and operation of machinery. The mechanical engineering field requires an understanding of core areas including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis, and electricity. In addition to these core principles, mechanical engineers use tools such as computer-aided design (CAD), and product life cycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices, weapons, and others.
The department has evolved a comprehensive student-centric learning approach, designed to add significant value to the learner’s understanding in an integrated manner through workshops, lab sessions, assignments, training, seminars, projects and independent study. The hands-on training offered at our CAD training centre, CNC and Robotic Lab, machine shop, etc brings in a formal method of familiarizing with the industrial practices, which help the students to apply their class room knowledge to live industrial situations.
M Tech (Thermal Engineering)
The Master’s program in Thermal Engineering aims at creating motivated & capable graduates who can serve both as design & technical engineers and applied researchers in the core and R&D industry. Building on strong fundamentals of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics & heat transfer, the program offers an opportunity to broadly specialize in areas such as Turbo machinery, Heat Transfer, CFD & Modeling through ample electives. The program also has built into it advanced computational and IC Engine Research laboratories to make the graduate, industry ready.
