About the Department

The BTech program in Robotics and Automation at Toc H is the first of its kind in the State of Kerala. Given the increasing importance of Robotics and Automation and the thrust given by the Government of India and AICTE, it is felt that an undergraduate program in this area is necessary to enhance the technical skills and employability of students in addition to promoting entrepreneurs in this field Started in 2019 at TIST, BTech in Robotics and Automation has rapidly gained momentum owing to the increasing demand for Robotics and Automation engineers.

International surveys say that one-third of graduate-level jobs around the world may be replaced by machines and software. This disruption will change job titles and tasks performed by engineers. Hence it is essential to prepare our students for major upheavals that are affecting the technology sector. Robotics and Automation in conjunction with Artificial Intelligence is listed as one of the most important technologies today. The program adopts an inter-disciplinary approach, combining elements of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Engineering along with core subjects in Robotics and Automation. A program that provides multidisciplinary skills in:

and other emerging technologies is essential to prepare our graduates for this disruption. High-skill workers who work closely with such cutting edge technologies will be in strong demand in the foreseeable future. Once students complete this program, they can target opportunities in various Indian and multi-national companies working with robots and flexible manufacturing systems in addition to engineering consultancy firms. The department has tie-ups with leading companies in order to provide a platform for students to be exposed to the latest trends in the field of Robotics and Automation.
