MalayalaManorama Budget Presentation The students attended the 19th MalayalaManorama Budget lecture by Dr.Ajit Ranade, Chief economist and President, Aditya Birla group. He explained the various nuances of the 2018 Union Budget.He also elaborated on the International context and Indian context of the budget as well as the challenges the economy faces in the current scenario.

International Student Exchange Programme The staff and students participated in a five day student exchange programme at University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. The delegation also partook in the International conference for Business and Information (ICBI).

Internship at Plan @ Earth Students underwent a six day internship program at Plan@Earth, Aluva, an NGO working primarily on waste management and recycling practices. Students conducted a market survey based on waste management in Aluva & Angamali Municipality. They also performed a street play on waste management with an intention of creating   awareness among the general public.

Leadership training programat YMCA. The session was handled by former DGP Mr. Alexander Jacob. The session dealt with strategies of personal development, and effective writing skills. Another session was handled by Prof.Dr.Mohan Varghese, who spoke about the social responsibilities of a citizen of the country. The various qualities of a leader were also discussed by him.

3 day workshop conducted by Kerala Management Association(KMA) The first day session was a talk by Mr. Christy Fernandes, retired IAS Officer. He gave an insight on artificial intelligence and new innovations of 21st century and also explained concerns regarding jobs of future generations being taken over by robots due to increased automation. On the 2nd day, motivational speaker, Ms. Ushy Mohandas, talked about the purpose of life and gave tips on how to stay positive. The 3rd day witnessed a seminar  titled ‘KITCHEN’ hosted by KMA  at Holiday Inn, Vytilla, where several entrepreneurs of  start-up companies  as well as established corporates houses shared their success stories and the innovative strategies they had adopted to excel.

Student workshops & Seminars: 2016-2017

2-7-2016 to 5-7-2016:

The Trimester Started with a four day orientation programme for the new batch of MBA students. Orientation programme was conducted by Mr.Manoj Meledath and Sooraj Abraham. The students were also addressed by the Dean, Department of Management Studies. The department also organized a musical function for students by the famous music director Berny Ignatius and Edaykka Maestro Sri Tripunitura Krishnadas who interacted with students on the theme- music for quality life.

Screening of short films by Anup Narayanan, founder of Open Cinemas and CEO of ISQ World and Prasad yogi, an accomplished photographer was organized.

31-8-2016        Special Lecture on accounting by Mr.Hari Krishnan , chartered accountant was given to the MBA batch 2016-18.

5-11-2016        The Kerala Management Association’s (KMA) management student convention was conducted at Gokulam Convention Centre, Ernakulam. The theme of the years’ convention was “Shaping the Budding Managers for Tomorrow”. Sri.  Kuncheria P Issac, Vice Chancellor of the Kerala Technological University inaugurated the function.

21/7/2015        The department organized a five day orientation programme for the 8th batch of MBA students. The programme was conducted to acquaint new batch of students with the MBA program in TIST. The orientation program was conducted by corporate trainers like Mr. Sooraj Abraham, Mr. MAS Menon, Mr. Chandrashekar, Mr. Vasudevan and Mr. Manoj Meledath .The students were also addressed by Dr. Suresh Manimala, Dean, Department of Management Studies and Dr. Hareesh N Ramanathan, HOD, Department of Management Studies.

10/8/2015        A lecture on SAP was given by Mr. Barkath Ali, specialist in logistics management.

25/8/2015        Seminar on MRTP, Competition Act, FERA and FEMA was conducted by Advocate Naveen, Assistant Professor, CUSAT.

15/01/2016      Seminar on “Ease of Doing Business”- A ‘Make in Kerala’ summit was held at TDM hall, Ernakulum as part of the ‘Make in India’ programme of the Union government.

20/01/2016      An internship programme was conducted for the first year students from 20th to 26th January 2016 at “Big Bazaar”

29/02/2016       A Re – Energizing Workshop was conducted by Mr. Nelson(Corporate Trainner)

03/03/2016       A workshop on Introduction to equity markets was conducted by Hedge Equities and was led by Mr. Benil Alexander from Hedge equities.

04/03/2016      Students of S2 MBA were taken for the 17th Malayala Manorama budget presentation at Le Meridian Cochin on 4th March 2016.

08/07/20 14    The 7th batch of MBA was inaugurated by Mr. Hrishikesh Nair, CEO, Info Park, Kochi; which followed a week-long orientation for the new batch of students by  trainers like Mr. Sooraj Abraham, Mr. MAS Menon, Mr. Benny George and Mr. Manoj Meledath.

29/07/2014      Students participated in a talk by Dr. Venkatesh Athreya, eminent economist on the Budget 2014 and Indian Economy. The event was organized under the aegis of E. Balanandan Research Foundation

21/08/2014      To expose students to different possibilities of careers in shipping industry, a talk on ‘Careers in Shipping Industry’ was conducted by Mr. Biju John.

22/08/2014      A training session on EBSCO- Leading provider of research data bases, e-journals and e-books for academic and research purposes, was conducted by experts

25/08/2014      Talk on micro finance by Prof. Varghese Manaloor, University of Alberta, Canada.

12/10/2014      Session on ‘Ethics in Business’ by Mr. Suresh K Aravind, Executive Director, Johnson & Johnson, United States.

19 to 23/11/2015

A delegation comprising of 6 faculty and 6 students under the leadership of Mr. Prakash George Mathen, Secretary, Toc H Public School Society visited University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka on a five day trip from 19th to 23rd November 2015.

12/01/2015      A training programme called ‘Walk with Konfidence’ was conducted for the final year students. This aimed at preparing the students for aptitude test for corporate recruitment
