Best Paper Presentation Award at NCACE 2026
The Department of Civil Engineering takes immense pride in the outstanding achievement of its students, A G Nandana, Aksha M, and Philin Pradeep (S8 CE, Batch 2022–26), who secured the Best Paper Presentation Award at the 1st National Conference on Advances in Civil Engineering (NCACE 2026) held at Motihari College of Engineering. Their paper titled “Analysis of Traffic Performance at Vyttila Junction Using PTV-VISSIM” was highly appreciated for its technical depth and practical relevance. The team was guided by their mentor, Asst. Prof. Jesna N M, whose support and expertise played a key role in this accomplishment. This achievement reflects the department’s commitment to fostering research, innovation, and academic excellence among students.
Faculty Achievement: Dr. Preetha Prabhakaran Serves as Editorial Member for Springer Nature – ICITES 2025 Proceedings
The Department of Civil Engineering at Toc H Institute of Science & Technology proudly congratulates Dr. Preetha Prabhakaran for her notable academic contribution as an Editorial Member for the conference proceedings of ICITES 2025 published by Springer Nature on February 2nd 2026.
The conference proceedings titled “Proceedings of ICITES-2025, Volume 2: Smart, Digital and Sustainable Construction” have been published as part of the prestigious Lecture Notes in Civil Engineering series by Springer. Dr. Preetha Prabhakaran served on the editorial team along with other distinguished academicians, contributing to the rigorous review and compilation of high-quality research papers in the field of civil engineering.
Her involvement in this international publication reflects her dedication to advancing research in emerging areas such as smart infrastructure, digital construction technologies, and sustainable engineering practices. Dr. Vasudev R elevated As Fellow Of the Institution Of Engineers (India)

MOOC COURSE
Prof. Dr. Vasudev R, Asst. Prof. Mary Dhanya, and Asst. Prof. Christy Francis Lonth successfully completed 8-week online courses offered through SWAYAM during July to September 2025. Prof. Dr. Vasudev R and Asst. Prof. Mary Dhanya completed the course on “Sustainable Engineering Concepts and Life Cycle Analysis”, while Asst. Prof. Christy Francis Lonth completed the course on “Project Planning and Control”. All three courses were recognized as Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), contributing to the continuous professional development of the faculty members.
INTRA-COLLEGIATE MATHEMATICAL MODEL BUILDING COMPETITION- SECOND POSITION

MOOC COURSE
Asst. Prof. Sangeetha S, Dr. Preetha Prabhakaran, and Asst. Prof. Christy Francis Lonth successfully completed NPTEL online certification courses during July to October 2025.
Asst. Prof. Sangeetha S and Dr. Preetha Prabhakaran completed the 12-week NPTEL course on “Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures.” Asst. Prof. Christy Francis Lonth successfully completed the NPTEL course on “Mental Health and Wellbeing,”.
All courses are recognized as Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), contributing to the continuous professional advancement of the faculty members.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Nithin Shivakumar (S8 CE) emerged as the winner in “Run for Safety 5.0” organized by the Department of Safety and Fire Engineering, TIST on 4th March 2025, in association with the National Safety Council – Kerala Chapter, showcasing Great Spirit and dedication. The event successfully promoted safety awareness and community participation.

Aji Antony, M. Tech student received the Best Presentation Award from PG category in the 2ndInternational Conference on Futuristic Trends in Science, Engineering, and Management2025 (ICFTSEM) held on 27/02/2025 organized by Department of Business administration, St. Xavier’s College of Management & Technology, Patna.
FACULTY ACHIEVEMENT
Dr. Preetha Prabhakaran, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, was honoured and received the ICI Ultratech award 2024 for outstanding doctoral thesison the topic ‘Analysis of Structural Behaviour of Reinforced Concrete Beams Strengthened with CFRP’ in in the field of concrete during ICI Ultratech award night held at Raddison Blu Kochi on 21st February 2025.
MoU with SiteXpert
Toc H Institute of Science and Technology has partnered with SiteXpert (C/o Viya Builders Pvt. Ltd.) to offer a practical, industry-driven vocational training program for Civil Engineering students. This initiative provides hands-on training, live site visits, expert-led workshops, and certifications, ensuring students gain real-world skills beyond textbooks. Designed for 3rdand 4thyear students, the program includes modules on Quantity Surveying, Estimation & Costing, STAMP Framework, Soft Skills, and Practical Civil Works. With a flexible EMI payment option and industry-recognized certification, this program is a stepping stone toward a successful engineering career.
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Beaskrishna S and Adinath P B of S3 CE (2023-2027 Batch) secured third prize in Inter College presentation contest “Slide off” on the theme “Creating Solutions for a Sustainable World” organized by Christ college of Engineering on 8th October 2024.They presented a project titled “Experimental Investigation on the Utilization of Waste Plastic and Glass Bottles for Mosaic Tiles”, focusing on reducing environmental impact by incorporating recycled materials into construction.
Beaskrishna of S3 CE won first prize in Intra college Mathematical still model competition organised by Maths department, TIST.

MOU with Matter Lab
Department of Civil Engineering, Toc H Institute of Science and Technology signed an MOU with Matter Lab, Calicut on 06/03/2024. Matter Lab is an exceptionally well equipped for construction and other industries through material testing, inspection and consultancy services.This MOU intends for Collaborative learning, Internships and Research through materials testing, metallurgical (steel) testing, non-destructive concrete testing and forensic investigation of concrete structures, chemical analysis & microbiological examination of water, food & food products, environmental testing etc.
