Faculty Achievement: Dr. Preetha Prabhakaran Delivers Expert Session at National-Level FDP
The Department of Civil Engineering, Toc H Institute of Science and Technology (TIST), proudly congratulates Dr. Preetha Prabhakaran, Associate Professor, for serving as the Resource Person at the Six-Day National Level Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Transforming Civil Engineering through Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Technologies and Sustainable Practices”, organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, Viswajyothi College of Engineering & Technology, Vazhakulam, from 15th –20th June 2026.
As part of the FDP, Dr. Preetha Prabhakaran delivered an insightful technical session on “The Digital Revolution in Structural Health Monitoring of Civil Infrastructure” on 19th June 2026. Her session highlighted the transformative role of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in monitoring, assessing, and maintaining civil infrastructure, providing participants with valuable insights into emerging trends in structural engineering.

The Department of Civil Engineering is proud to congratulate Ms. Vidya Jose, Faculty Member, for successfully presenting her research paper titled “Experimental Investigation on the Performance of Ferrock as a Binder in Mortar” at the International Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction Management (SECON’26).
The paper (Paper ID: 421) was presented during June 3rd –5th, 2026, at the Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT), Ernakulam. Faculty Participation in FDP on AI Integration in Civil Infrastructure
Mr. Christy Francis Lonth, Assistant Professor, and Lab Instructors Ms. Drisya Santhosh, Ms. Reshama K. K., and Ms. Geethu Thankan from the Department of Civil Engineering, Toc H Institute of Science & Technology (TIST), successfully participated in a Six-Day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Emerging Trends in Civil Infrastructure with AI Integration.”
The FDP was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology (Autonomous), Kochi, from 8th – 13th June 2026. The programme focused on the transformative role of artificial intelligence in civil infrastructure, covering emerging technologies, smart construction practices, data-driven decision-making, and innovative solutions for sustainable infrastructure development.

K., and Ms. Geethu Thankan from the Department of Civil Engineering, Toc H Institute of Science & Technology (TIST), actively participated in a Six-Day National Level Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Transforming Civil Engineering through Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Technologies and Sustainable Practices.”
The FDP was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, Viswajyothi College of Engineering & Technology, Vazhakulam, from 15th – 20th June 2026. The programme focused on emerging trends in civil engineering, highlighting the integration of artificial intelligence, advanced construction technologies, and sustainable engineering practices to address modern infrastructure challenges.
Their participation reflects the department’s commitment to continuous professional development, enhancing technical expertise, and adopting innovative approaches in teaching, research, and engineering practice.
Faculty Participation in STTP on Geospatial Technologies
Assistant Professors Jesna N. M., Chithra C. J., and Keerthy Sabu, along with Lab Instructors Drisya Santhosh, Reshama K. K., and Geethu Thankan from the Department of Civil Engineering, Toc H Institute of Science & Technology (TIST), successfully participated in a Six-Day Short-Term Training Programme (STTP) on “Geospatial Technologies in Civil Engineering Applications.”
The programme was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science (MITS), Kochi, from 22nd –27th June 2026. The STTP provided participants with comprehensive exposure to the latest geospatial technologies, including GIS, remote sensing, drone-based surveying, and their practical applications in planning, infrastructure development, and sustainable civil engineering practices.
The faculty members actively engaged in the technical sessions and hands-on learning activities, enhancing their knowledge of modern geospatial tools and techniques. Their participation underscores the Department’s commitment to continuous professional development, fostering innovation, and integrating advanced technologies into teaching, research, and engineering practice.
Faculty Achievement | NPTEL Certification Success (January–April 2026)
The faculty members of the Department of Civil Engineering have successfully completed NPTEL online certification courses during the January–April 2026 session, demonstrating their commitment to continuous professional development and
academic excellence. Ms. Keerthy Sabu, Assistant Professor, completed the 12-week course Air Pollution and Control and secured Elite certification with a score of 66%. Ms. Jesna N M, Assistant Professor, successfully completed the 12-week course Urban Transportation Systems Planning and achieved Elite certification with a score of 75%. Ms. Chithra C J, Assistant Professor, completed the 12-week course Free Surface Flows and secured Elite certification with a score of 67%. All the courses carried 4 academic credits and were offered through the NPTEL platform. These accomplishments reflect the department’s active engagement in advancing technical knowledge in diverse areas of Civil Engineering and contribute to strengthening teaching quality, academic standards, and lifelong learning among faculty members.
Faculty Achievement: Chartered Engineer (India) Recognition.
The Department of Civil Engineering, TIST is proud to announce that Dr. Vasudev R., Professor and Head of Department, has been conferred the prestigious Chartered Engineer (India) title by the The Institution of Engineers (India) on 12 th March 2026. This professional recognition has been awarded in acknowledgment of his academic qualifications, professional training, and corporate membership in the Civil Engineering Division of the Institution. Best Paper Presentation Award at NCACE 2026
The Department of Civil Engineering takes immense pride in the outstanding achievement of its students, A G Nandana, Aksha M, and Philin Pradeep (S8 CE, Batch 2022–26), who secured the Best Paper Presentation Award at the 1st National Conference on Advances in Civil Engineering (NCACE 2026) held at Motihari College of Engineering. Their paper titled “Analysis of Traffic Performance at Vyttila Junction Using PTV-VISSIM” was highly appreciated for its technical depth and practical relevance. Dr. Preetha Prabhakaran, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, was honoured and received the ICI Ultratech award 2024 for outstanding doctoral thesison the topic ‘Analysis of Structural Behaviour of Reinforced Concrete Beams Strengthened with CFRP’ in in the field of concrete during ICI Ultratech award night held at Raddison Blu Kochi on 21st February 2025.

Toc H Institute of Science and Technology has partnered with SiteXpert (C/o Viya Builders Pvt. Ltd.) to offer a practical, industry-driven vocational training program for Civil Engineering students. This initiative provides hands-on training, live site visits, expert-led workshops, and certifications, ensuring students gain real-world skills beyond textbooks. Designed for 3rdand 4thyear students, the program includes modules on Quantity Surveying, Estimation & Costing, STAMP Framework, Soft Skills, and Practical Civil Works. Beaskrishna S and Adinath P B of S3 CE (2023-2027 Batch) secured third prize in Inter College presentation contest “Slide off” on the theme “Creating Solutions for a Sustainable World” organized by Christ college of Engineering on 8th October 2024.They presented a project titled “Experimental Investigation on the Utilization of Waste Plastic and Glass Bottles for Mosaic Tiles”, focusing on reducing environmental impact by incorporating recycled materials into construction.

MOU with Matter Lab
Department of Civil Engineering, Toc H Institute of Science and Technology signed an MOU with Matter Lab, Calicut on 06/03/2024. Matter Lab is an exceptionally well equipped for construction and other industries through material testing, inspection and consultancy services.This MOU intends for Collaborative learning, Internships and Research through materials testing, metallurgical (steel) testing, non-destructive concrete testing and forensic investigation of concrete structures, chemical analysis & microbiological examination of water, food & food products, environmental testing etc.
